Cento anni fa, il 12 marzo 1925, mons. Conforti fece a Parma la ricognizione canonica di San Marco, martire dei primi secoli, sepolto nelle catacombe romane. Non sappiamo come i sacri Pegni del Martire siano giunti a Parma: alcune ossa e perfino il sangue nel suo vasetto originale prelevato al momento dell’invenzione nel loculo catacombale. Ma è ben documentata la ripulitura delle reliquie, avvenuta il 13 gennaio 1925, ad opera del rev. p. Giovani Bonardi, Superiore dell’Istituto Missione Estere di Parma. Tutte queste Reliquie furono fermate con nastri rossi e sigilli episcopali di San Guido Maria Conforti e conservate in una sontuosa urna lignea ottocentesca.

Negli anni 1930-1950 l’urna fu posta nella “Cappella martiri” della Casa Madre, Parma, sotto dell’altare neoclassico rinascimentale del 1898 che racchiude la tela rappresentante San Francesco Saverio dipinta da Paolo Baratta. San Conforti coltivava grande venerazione verso “coloro che hanno fondato la chiesa con il loro sangue: hanno bevuto il calice del Signore e sono diventati amici di Dio” si legge nel soffitto della cappella.

Il 22 marzo dell’anno giubilare 2025, questa urna è stata donata alla Parrocchia di Santo Stefano Protomartire, fondata nell’anno 1610: la dedicazione dell’attuale Chiesa parrocchiale ebbe luogo l’11 novembre 1907, per mano del Beato Andrea Carlo Ferrari, Arcivescovo di Milano.

Domenica 8 giugno 2025, nella solennità di Pentecoste, la celebrazione a San Stefano inizia con l’ingresso dell’urna portata in processione - preceduta dai bambini della Prima comunione che, con palme in mano, invitano all’accoglienza di San Marco – per essere collocata al lato dell’altare, accanto alle reliquie di San Guido M. Conforti. Introducendo l’eucaristia, celebrata secondo il rito ambrosiano, il parroco, don Cristian Pina, ha scritto: “A San Marco che non ha esitato a morire per Gesù, oggi chiediamo la grazia di morire per sempre al peccato per vivere nella vita dei figli di Dio”. One hundred years ago, on March 12^th, 1925, Bishop Conforti conducted a canonical recognition in Parma of St. Mark’s relics, a martyr of the first Christian centuries, who is buried in the Roman catacombs. We do not know how the Martyr’s relics (sacri Pegni) came to Parma: they include some bones and even blood kept in its original jar, the one that was taken from the niche in the catacomb at the moment of its discovery. However, what has been documented is the cleaning of the relics, which took place on January 13^th, 1925, and was performed by Rev. Fr. Giovanni Bonardi, Superior of the Institute for Foreign Missions in Parma. These Relics were secured with red ribbons and the Episcopal seals of St. Guido Maria Conforti, and kept in a solemn 19^th-century wooden urn. In the 1930s-1950s, the urn was placed in the Cappella martiri (Martyrs’ Chapel) of the Mother House, Parma, under the 1898 neo-classical altar that encloses a canvas depicting St Francis Xavier painted by Paolo Baratta. St Conforti had a great veneration for “those who founded the church with their blood: they drank the chalice of the Lord and became friends of God,” as it is written in the ceiling of the chapel.

On March 22^nd of the Jubilee Year 2025, this urn was donated to the Parish of St Stephen Protomartyr. Founded in the year 1610, the dedication of the present parish church took place on November 11^th, 1907, at the hands of Blessed Andrea Carlo Ferrari, Archbishop of Milan.

On Sunday June 8^th, 2025, Solemnity of Pentecost, the celebration at San Stefano began with the entrance of the urn carried in procession, The urn was preceded by the children of First Communion who, with palms in their hands, invited the congregation to welcome St Mark. The urn was then placed at the side of the altar, next to the relics of St Guido M. Conforti. In the introduction to that Mass celebrated according to the Ambrosian rite, the parish priest, Fr. Cristian Pina, wrote: “St Mark did not hesitate to die for Jesus. Today we ask him the grace to die forever to sin’s power in order to live in the life of God’s children.” (Faustino Turco sx)
