Domenica 5 maggio 2024, Shinmeizan ha guidato il Gruppo di dialogo interreligioso della Prefettura di Kumamoto, nella sua "100ma" iniziativa. Fondato nel 1991 da Shinmeizan, questo gruppo si riunisce regolarmente tre o quattro volte all’anno per visitare templi Buddhisti o Shintoisti della zona o le Sedi di alcune delle cosiddette "Nuove Religioni". Il tempio visitato questa volta è stato il Saifukuji di Kumamoto città (Buddhismo della terra Pura), a capo del quale sta una monaca buddhista che da anni frequenta Shinmeizan e partecipa regolarmente ai ritiri mensili.

Oltre alla vicendevole "presentazione", che comporta ovviamente una esplicita e chiara testimonianza della propria fede, domande vicendevoli favoriscono la mutua conoscenza e creano un clima di simpatia: un primo necessario gradino nella pratica del dialogo interreligioso. (Franco Sottocornola sx)

On Sunday, May 5^th, 2024, the Shinmeizan centre led the ‘Kumamoto Prefectural Interfaith Dialogue Group’ in the realization of its ‘100^th’ initiative. Founded in 1991 by Shinmeizan, this group usually gathers three or four times during the year in order to visit Buddhist or Shinto temples of the area, or the seats of some so-called “New Religions.” On this occasion, the group visited the Saifukuji Temple in Kumamoto city (belonging to the Pure Land Buddhism), which is headed by a Buddhist nun that has been visiting Shinmeizan for years and who takes part regularly in the monthly retreats.

Apart from mutual “self-introductions”, that obviously entail an explicit and clear witnessing of one’s own faith, reciprocal questions facilitate mutual knowledge and create a mood of familiarity, which is a first necessary step in the praxis of interreligious dialogue. (Franco Sottocornola s.x.)
