Il nostro confratello p. Antonio López Villaseñor, attualmente in Messico per concludere gli studi di Dottorato in Teologia Biblica presso la Universidad Pontificia de México (PUM), ha pubblicato in un agile libretto quasi tascabile la traduzione in lingua Mussey di tutto il Salterio:  “So’olla – Vun Muzeyna” (“Il Libro dei Salmi in Lingua Mussey”). Insieme a p. Antonio, hanno contribuito alla traduzione anche Jean Wilhaouna, Paul Ngabaina e altri collaboratori. 

Il Mussey è la lingua del popolo che ha accolto i Missionari Saveriani sin dal loro arrivo in Ciad nel 1982, costruendo insieme una storia di amicizia, fraternità e annuncio del Signore Gesù. Dalle missioni di Gobo, Pont Carol, Gounuo-Gaya, Domo, i Saveriani si trovano ora solo a Djodo Gassa e Tagal.

Questo libretto dei Salmi può essere visto come un’espressione degli sforzi di tanti confratelli che, per avvicinare la Parola del Signore a questa terra, si sono impegnati ad imparare e conoscere in profondità la lingua Mussey, perfezionando ed elaborando grammatiche, glossari, racconti, genealogie, libri di catechesi, di formazione e di liturgia. Si tratta di un lavoro serio ed impegnativo che non finisce mai. Esso, infatti,  continua negli sforzi dei nostri confratelli ancora presenti in quella regione e nel costante lavoro di p. Antonio López Villaseñor che, dopo aver ereditato da altri sacerdoti e laici locali i contributi nel campo delle traduzioni, ha guidato il gruppo che ha tradotto e pubblicato il Nuovo Testamento in lingua locale. Ora p. Antonio López V. è impegnato nella traduzione dell’Antico Testamento.

“Il Libro dei Salmi in Lingua Mussey”  (“So’olla – Vun Muzeyna”) sta ottenendo una bella e buona accoglienza tra la gente. È provvidenziale che il Libro dei Salmi in lingua Mussey sia stato pubblicato nell’Anno dedicato alla Preghiera.

Our confrere, Fr. Antonio López Villaseñor, currently in Mexico to complete his doctoral studies in Biblical Theology at Universidad Pontificia de México (PUM), published a Mussey-language translation of the Book of Psalms in a handy book – a sort of pocket book – titled So’olla – Vun Muzeyna (The book of Psalms in Mussey Language). Jean Wilhaouna, Paul Ngabaina and other collaborators contributed to the work of translation of Fr. Antonio. 

Mussey is the language of the people that welcomed the Xaverian Missionaries at their arrival in Chad in 1982 and together with whom the Xaverians built a history of friendship, fraternity and proclamation of the Lord Jesus. While, at the beginning, the Xaverians settled in the mission stations of Gobo, Pont Carol, Gounuo-Gaya and Domo, presently they are only in Djodo Gassa and Tagal. This booklet of Psalms can be considered the result of a common effort exerted by many confreres who, in order to bring the Word of the Lord closer to this land, committed themselves to learning and knowing the Mussey language in depth, by improving and preparing grammars, glossaries, collecting tales, genealogies, and editing books for catechesis, formation and liturgy. It is a serious and demanding work which never ends. Truly, it continues through the efforts of our confreres still present in that region and through the persistent work of Fr. Antonio López Villaseñor who, after receiving the contributions made by other local priests and lay Christians in the field of translations, directed a group that has translated and published the New Testament in local language. Currently, Fr. Antonio López Villaseñor is working on the translation of the Old Testament. 

So’olla – Vun Muzeyna (The book of Psalms in Mussey Language) is having a good reception from the people. It is quite providential that the Book of Psalms in Mussey Language has been published in the year dedicated to prayer.
