Gli Esercizi Spirituali annuali si sono svolti il 13, 14 e 15 luglio 2021, online, nelle diverse realtà in cui i confratelli saveriani vivono e lavorano qui nella Regione Brasile Sud. La proposta era molto semplice e tutto è stato vissuto con gratitudine. Il predicatore Dom Vicente de Paula Ferreira, vescovo ausiliare di Belo Horizonte (MG), ha proposto due meditazioni (una al mattino e una al pomeriggio) il martedì e il mercoledì. Ogni settore della nostra famiglia saveriana si è organizzato come ha potuto e come ha ritenuto opportuno. Il gruppo di saveriani, per esempio, del settore di San Paolo, celebravano la Messa al mattino e la preghiera vespertina alla fine della giornata. Ogni meditazione era seguita da un tempo di silenzio e meditazione. Il predicatore “partecipava” online, mentre tutti noi eravamo riuniti in piccoli gruppi di 5 o 6 confratelli nelle comunità saveriane più numerose.

In modo molto sapiente, Dom Vicente ci ha aiutati a riflettere sul Vangelo di Giovanni (cap. 20); il libro dell'Apocalisse (cap. 21); la lettera agli Efesini (cap. 1); il Vangelo di Luca (cap. 10). Oltre alla Parola di Dio, il nostro predicatore ha anche commentato alcuni brani della Evangelii Gaudium, Laudato sii e Fratelli Tutti.

Giovedì mattina, invece, p. Fabrizio Tosolini sx ci ha aiutati a riflettere sulla Lettera Testamento, in particolare sulla forza del carisma che Dio ha ispirato al nostro Fondatore San Guido Maria Conforti e la bellezza di unire consacrazione religiosa e vita missionaria ad gentes e sull'urgenza di una missione oltre le frontiere alla quale anche noi partecipiamo attivamente, sia costruendo comunità ecclesiali, sia testimoniando il Vangelo della Risurrezione. From July 13^th to 15^th, 2021, the yearly Spiritual Exercises were held online in order to reach the different realities of this South Brazil Region where Xaverian confreres live and work. Although the reflections being offered to us were very simple, everything was lived with gratitude. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the preacher, Dom Vicente de Paula Ferreira, auxiliary bishop of Belo Horizonte (MG), offered two meditations (one in the morning and one in the afternoon). Every district of our Xaverian family got organised according to its possibilities and in the way it considered appropriate. For instance, the group of Xaverians from the district of São Paulo celebrated Mass in the morning and Vespers at the end of the day. Each meditation was followed by time of silence and personal reflection. The preacher ‘participated’ online, while we would all gather in small groups of 5 or 6 confreres in the more numerous Xaverian communities.

Dom Vicente helped us to reflect, in a very wise fashion, upon the Gospel of John (ch. 20), the book of Revelation (ch. 21), the letter to the Ephesians (ch. 1) and the Gospel of Luke (ch. 10). Along with the Word of God, our preacher commented also some passages from Evangelii Gaudium, Laudato sii and Fratelli Tutti.

Thursday morning, Fr. Fabrizio Tosolini s.x. helped us reflect on the Testament Letter, especially on the strength of the charism that God has given our Founder, St. Guido Maria Conforti, on the beauty of uniting religious consecration and missionary life ad gentes, and on the urgency of a mission beyond frontiers in which we too actively participate, both by constructing ecclesial communities and by bearing witness to the Gospel of the Resurrection.
