Note offerte da Don Antonio Schiavi, sacerdote di Parma, come testimonianza al processo di Conforti, a p. 419 della Positio, Roma 1955:

"Sotto gli auspici della Vergine Santa, aprì la prima e seconda Visita Pastorale il giorno 8 dicembre, perché, egli scrisse: alla Madonna si collegano le date più memorande della mia vita.

Di fatti celebrò la prima Messa nel Santuario di Fontanellato; fu nominato Vescovo nel mese di maggio a Lei sacro; fece il solenne ingresso in Diocesi di Parma il 25 marzo 1908; fu nominato Vescovo Coadiutore di Parma il 24 settembre, festa della Madonna della Mercede.

Ha emanato prescrizioni per la celebrazione del mese di ottobre. Istituì la Società della Beata Vergine di Lourdes in S. Rocco; promosse pellegrinaggi a Fontanellato; raccomandò di concorrere con offerte per la facciata di quel Santuario, vi celebrò le nozze d'argento sacerdotali.

Emanò nel 1931 una lettera pastorale sulla Madonna; favorì le feste per l'incoronazione della Madonna di Fontanellato e in una di tali occasioni offrì il suo anello pastorale; eresse in Santuario Mariano la Cappella del Seminario di Berceto.

Recitava infallibilmente ogni giorno il S. Rosario, per lo più la sera prima di andare a riposo, e ciò anche quando era stanchissimo e anche quando si era fatta ora tarda per gli altri impegni... ".  (Ermanno Ferro sx)

Following are some notes Fr. Antonio Schiavi, a priest of Parma, provided as testimony in the inquiry leading to Conforti’s canonization (see Positio, Rome 1955, p. 419):

“He commenced the first and second Pastoral visit on December 8^th, that is, under  the auspices of the Holy Virgin, because, he wrote, the most memorable days of my life are associated with Our Lady.

Indeed, he celebrated his first Mass in the Marian Shrine of Fontanellato; he was appointed bishop during the month of May that is dedicated to Her; he made his solemn entrance in the Diocese of Parma on March 25^th, 1908; he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Parma on September 24^th, Feast of the Virgin of Mercy.

He issued regulations on the celebration of the month of October; in St Rocco’s Church, he established the Society of Our Lady of Lourdes; he promoted pilgrimages to Fontanellato; he urged the faithful to contribute with donations to the refurbishing of the façade of that shrine; there, he celebrated the silver anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood.

In 1931, he issued a pastoral letter on the Holy Virgin; he fostered celebrations of the crowning of the Blessed Virgin of Fontanellato, and in one of such occasions offered Her his pastoral ring; he elevated the Chapel of the Seminary in Berceto to the rank of Marian Shrine.

He would pray the Holy Rosary every day without fail, mostly in the evening before retiring; he would pray it even when he was extremely tired and the hour too late for discharging his other commitments…”  (Ermanno Ferro s.x.)
