Il 24 marzo 2021 si celebrerà la XXIX Giornata di Preghiera e digiuno in memoria dei missionari martiri. 

Si tratta di un appuntamento ormai diventato caro per tutti coloro che guardando al martirio “in odium fidei” non vedono un mero sacrificio ma il compimento di una vita alla sequela di Cristo.

L’editoriale di questa settimana riflette sul martirio di San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez. L’articolo - dal titolo “Il profeta deve disturbare la società, quando la società non ama Dio” - mostra come il martirio-testimonianza di San Romero non sia stato solo nel momento del suo assassinato, ma iniziato con le sofferenze per le persecuzioni precedenti alla sua morte. San Romero ripeteva con forza che ogni credente deve essere un martire, ossia “testimone” del messaggio di Dio Padre ad ogni uomo.

L’autore della riflessione è il nostro confratello Alessandro Feruglio originario di Gorizia (Italia). Dopo la formazione teologica in Messico (2000 - 2007) dove emette la Professione Perpetua, viene destinato (2009) alla circoscrizione della Colombia dove svolge vari servizi nel campo della formazione ed economia. Attualmente è rettore della comunità Saveriana di Buenaventura (parrocchia di Cristo Redentore) e membro del Consiglio Regionale.

On March 24^th – 2021, the XXIX Day of Prayer and Fasting will be celebrated in memory of the martyred missionaries.  It is an appointment that has become dear to all those who, looking at martyrdom in odium fidei, do not see it as a mere sacrifice, but as the fulfillment of a life lived following Christ.

This week’s editorial reflects on the martyrdom of St. Oscar Arnulfo Romero y Goldámez.  The editorial – entitled “When society doesn’t love God, the prophet must become a nuisance to society”, shows how the martyrdom-testimony of Saint Romero was not only at the time of his murder, but began with suffering with the persecution he had to endure prior to his death.  Saint Romero repeated forcefully that every believer must be a martyr, that is, “witness” of God who is Father to everyone and to us all.   The author of the reflection is our Xaverian Confrere Br. Alessandro Feruglio s.x. from Gorizia (Italy).   After his Theological formation and preparation in Mexico (200-2007), where he celebrated his Perpetual Profession, Br. Alessandro Feruglio was assigned (2009) to missionary ministry in Colombia.  There he carried our various services in the field of formation and economics.  Currently, Alessandro is Rector of the Xaverian Community in Buenaventura (in the Parish of Cristo Redentor), and is also a member of the regional Xaverian Council.
