La celebrazione della beatificazione di Vittorio, Luigi, Giovanni e Albert si è svolta nella piazza San Pietro della cattedrale di Uvira, dalle 9:30 alle 13:00. Ha riunito circa 15.000 persone, che hanno partecipato con attenzione, ardore ed entusiasmo. Come previsto, è stata presieduta dal cardinale di Kinshasa, Mgr Ambongo Besungu Fridolin, accompagnato dal nunzio della RDC, dai vescovi della provincia ecclesiastica di Bukavu (sette, fra cui uno emerito), dal presidente della Conferenza Episcopale del Congo e da quello del Burundi, dai vescovi di Kongolo, Kalemie-Kirungu (diocesi di origine del beato Albert), da un ausiliare di Kinshasa, dal vescovo di Vicenza (diocesi di origine di Vittorio e Giovanni) e dal confratello Saveriano vescovo Natale Paganelli (rappresentante della famiglia del beato Luigi). Vi hanno partecipato folte delegazioni della diocesi di Uvira, di Bukavu. Notevole l’accoglienza riservata ai pellegrini dei famigliari dei martiri: una trentina venuti dall’Italia e una settantina della famiglia Joubert (venuti soprattutto da Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, Kalemie). Le strutture Saveriane di Kilomoni hanno accolto circa 140 persone. I Saveriani concelebranti erano 45, rappresentando le varie circoscrizioni Saveriane nel mondo, come ha detto il padre Generale nel suo discorso di ringraziamento.

Al termine della celebrazione, i vescovi e una parte dei celebranti si sono recati in corteo al santuario di Kavimvira per deporre le reliquie dei martiri nella cappella della fraternità dove i cristiani già attendevano numerosi e giubilanti. Il Cardinale Ambongo ha ricordato il senso della venerazione delle reliquie e dell’intercessione dei santi. L’indomani, il 19 agosto, nello stesso santuario di Kavimvira, Mgr Muyengo, vescovo di Uvira, ha presieduto la celebrazione di ringraziamento e di saluto dei pellegrini. Durante la messa tre fanciulli della famiglia Joubert sono stati battezzati: il sangue dei martiri continua a generare nuovi cristiani. Nello stesso giorno, una delegazione di pellegrini, guidata da p. Gabriel Basuzwa, si è recata in battello a Baraka per pregare sulle tombe di Luigi e Vittorio. Una messa è stata celebrata dal vescovo Natale Paganelli. Le festose folle di Baraka, accogliendo i famigliari dei martiri, hanno voluto ringraziare il Signore per la grazia della santità che ha benedetto questa terra. Un sincero grazie rivolto a tutti e a ciascuno in particolare per aver contribuito ad amare e fare amare la vocazione missionaria e saveriana. (Faustino Turco sx)

The celebration of the beatification of Vittorio, Luigi, Giovanni, and Albert took place in St. Peter's Square of Uvira Cathedral from 9:30 to 13:00. It brought together about 15,000 people, who participated with attention, passion, and enthusiasm. As expected, the celebration was presided by the cardinal of Kinshasa, Mgr. Ambongo Besungu Fridolin. He was accompanied by the nuncio of the DRC, the bishops of the Ecclesiastical Province of Bukavu (seven, including one emeritus), the president of the Episcopal Conference of Congo, and that of Burundi, the bishops of Kongolo, Kalemie-Kirungu (diocese of origin of Blessed Albert), an auxiliary of Kinshasa, the bishop of Vicenza (diocese of origin of Vittorio and Giovanni) and by the Xaverian confrere Bishop Natale Paganelli (representing the family of Blessed Luigi). Large delegations from the diocese of Uvira and Bukavu participated. Remarkable was the welcome given to the families and relatives of the martyrs: around thirty came from Italy, and about seventy from the Joubert family ( mainly from Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, and Kalemie). The Xaverian facilities in Kilomoni welcomed about 140 people. As mentioned by Father General in his words of thanksgiving, there were 45 Xaverians concelebrating, representing the various Xaverian circumscriptions the world over.

At the end of the celebration, the bishops and some of the concelebrants went in procession to the shrine of Kavimvira to place the martyrs' relics in the fraternity chapel, where the faithful were already waiting joyfully in large numbers. Card. Ambongo recalled the meaning of the veneration of relics and the intercession of the saints. The next day, August 19, in the same shrine of Kavimvira, Mgr Muyengo, bishop of Uvira, presided over the celebration of thanksgiving and greeting of the pilgrims. During Mass, we witness the baptism of three children belonging to the family of Abbe Joubert: the blood of the martyrs continues to generate new christians. On the same day, a delegation of pilgrims, led by Fr. Gabriel Basuzwa, went by boat to Baraka to pray on the tombs of Luigi and Vittorio. Bishop Natale Paganelli celebrated a mass. The festive crowds of Baraka welcomed the families of the martyrs and thanked the Lord for the grace of holiness that has blessed this land.
