In questo tempo della solennità del Natale è bello comunicare tra di noi fratelli impegnati nell’annuncio del Vangelo. Natale ci appartiene perché è la sorgente della missione. La logica di Gesù di venire, di andare, d’incontrare, di annunciare, è la nostra. La sua scelta di presentarsi bambino, avvolto in fasce, povero, deposto in una mangiatoia, mette in evidenza il contrasto paradossale tra l’obiettivo della sua venuta di rinnovare l’umanità e la sua piccolezza di un neonato bisognoso di tutto. Ma con lui l’amore divino è entrato nella storia, anche in quella che contiene le divisioni del mondo di guerre più assurde. Gesù con il suo Natale ci meraviglia, ci provoca, ci giudica e chiede a noi e al mondo la conversione dai nostri comportamenti assurdi di rivalità, di potenza e di prestigio, per entrare nell’amore operativo di Dio.

Il nostro sguardo sia su di Lui, Bambino di Betlemme, perché ci accompagni, ci consoli, ci incoraggi. Ne abbiamo bisogno come l’aria che respiriamo. Buon Natale di Pace e di Speranza a voi confratelli sparsi nel mondo da noi 16 che siamo quasi tutti nella età grande e Buon anno 2024 di cuore! I fratelli della casa di Vicenza.

It is beautiful to communicate among us, brothers committed to the proclamation of the Gospel, in this Christmas season.

Christmas belongs to us for it is the source of mission. Jesus, who comes, goes, meets, proclaims, is our logic. His choice to introduce himself as a child that is wrapped in swaddling clothes, poor, and placed in a manger, underscores a paradoxical contrast between the purpose of his coming - renewing humanity - and his littleness as a newborn child in need of everything. And yet, through him, divine love entered history, even that containing a world divided by the most foolish wars. Jesus’ birth astonishes, provokes, judges and asks us and the world to change our absurd behaviors marked by rivalry, search for power and prestige, and instead enter in active love of God. Let our gaze be upon Him, Child of Bethlehem, so that he may accompany, console and encourage us. We need him as much as we need the air we breathe.
