BURUNDI
Bujumbura: il 26 aprile l’attuale Capo dello stato ha ufficializzato la sua candidatura alle elezioni del 26 giugno per un terzo mandato.
Immediatamente sono scoppiate manifestazioni, a tratti violente e con numerose vittime e feriti, soprattutto nei quartieri periferici di Bujumbura. È in atto un indefinibile colpo di stato. C’è molta insicurezza e paura: molta gente si rifugia nei paesi vicini: Tanzania, RDC e Rwanda. Invece non ci sono problemi nei luoghi dove lavorano i Saveriani, anche se giovedì 14 alcuni scontri tra le parti in conflitto sono avvenuti poco lontano dalla casa di formazione.
MESSICO
Nella prima settimana di maggio si sono tenuti gli ormai tradizionali incontri dei Formatori e dei Rettori delle undici comunità della Regione:
Il 4 e 5 maggio i Formatori hanno fatto il punto della situazione formativa alla conclusione dell’anno scolastico dei Seminari Minori, del Postulandato-Noviziato, Filosofia e Teologia; Con particolare attenzione al Progetto Personale di Vita e agli strumenti della Formazione indicati nella nuova Ratio Formatonis Xaverianae (RFX).
Nei giorni 5 e 6 i Rettori hanno proceduto ad un interscambio sulle più significative vicende delle comunità nell’anno dedicato alla Vita Consacrata e al 150° anniversario della nascita di Mons. Conforti.
I due incontri hanno prodotto interessanti impulsi per il servizio del evangelio de la vocación nelle comunità saveriane.
ITALIA
Parma, 5 maggio: nella parrocchia di S. Giovanni Battista, gli studenti, insieme a un nutrito gruppo internazionale di amici, hanno presentato un recital dal titolo "Credere ci manda" (tema dato dal Vescovo al Terzo Anno del Concilio dei Giovani). CAMERUN/CIAD
Nella settimana di Pasqua a Yaoundé si sono incontrati gli studenti di Filosofia e di Teologia.
Tre giorni di vacanza, di riflessione e di scambi, di sport e di … kongossa!
Dal 1° al 3 maggio il gruppo Missio Jeunes de Douala ha organizzato un’altra edizione del Forum social pour les jeunes de la ville. Si è tenuto al Centre Xavier, con la partecipazione di circa 80 giovani. Tema affrontato: il valore della persona e della vita umana.
SIERRA LEONE
Da più di una settimana abbiamo zero nuovi casi di Ebola in Sierra Leone, ma abbiamo saputo che un infermiere sardo è risultato positivo in Italia dopo aver prestato il suo servizio con Emergency a Freetown. Continuiamo a ringraziare il Signore per tutta la solidarietà materiale, morale e spirituale che abbiamo ricevuto in questi tempi difficili.
Sabato 9 Maggio è stato inaugurato il nuovo website della Sierra Leone:
www.xaveriens.org/sierraleone “a Xaverian Web Page that wants to share the life of the Mission in Sierra Leone”. È stato preparato ed elaborato dai PP. L. Birabaluge, P. Santiañez e M. Carlini, con la preziosissima consulenza tecnica da Parigi del P. G. Arroyo.
ITALIA
Il 13 Maggio le comunità di Vicenza Zelarino e Udine si sono incontrate a Vicenza per un ritiro nel ricordo dei 150 anni della nascita di S. Guido. Tema del ritiro, presentato da P. Guglielmo Camera: S. Guido e la consacrazione missionaria. Si è così voluto riflettere anche sulla “vita consacrata”, in quest’anno speciale ad essa dedicato.
BURUNDI
Bujumbura, 26 Apr: the current Head of State officially announced his candidacy, for a third mandate, in the elections that will take place on 26 June.
Immediately there were demonstrations, some of them violent, with many victims and wounded, especially in the districts on the outskirts of Bujumbura. An indefinable coup d’état is underway and there is a great deal of uncertainty and fear: a lot of people have sought refuge in nearby Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. There are no problems in the places where the Xaverians are working, though there were some clashes on 14 April a short distance from the formation house.
MEXICO
During the first week of May, the traditional meetings for Formators and the community Rectors took place.
4-5 May: the Formators discussed the formative situation at the end of the school year in the Minor Seminaries, Postulancy-Novitiate, Philosophy and Theology; special attention was given to the Personal Life Project and to the formation instruments contained in the new Ratio Formatonis Xaverianae.
5-6 May: the Rectors held an exchange on the most important events of the communities during the Year of the Consecrated Life and the 150th anniversary of the Founder’s birth.
Some interesting elements emerged from these meetings for the service del evangelio de la vocación in the Xaverian communities.
ITALY
Parma, 5 May: the parish of St. John the Baptist, with a large international group of friends, presented a show entitled "Credere ci manda". CAMEROON-CHAD
Yaoundé_ during Easter Week, the Philosophy and Theology students spent some days on vacation together, with time for reflection, exchange, sport and … kongossa!
1-3 May: the group Missio Jeunes de Douala organized another edition of the Forum social pour les jeunes de la ville. This was held at the Centre Xavier, with the participation of 80 young people. The topic was: the value of the human person and human life.
SIERRA LEONE
There have been no new Ebola cases in the country for more than a week now, but we have heard that a nurse from Sardinia has been infected after serving with Emergency in Freetown. We continue to thank the Lord for all the material, moral and spiritual solidarity that we have received in these difficult times.
9 May: inauguration of the new website of Sierra Leone: www.xaveriens.org/sierraleone “a Xaverian Web Page that wants to share the life of the Mission in Sierra Leone”. It was designed by Frs. L. Birabaluge, P. Santiañez and M. Carlini, with the valuable technical input of Fr. G. Arroyo from Paris.

13 May: the communities of Vicenza, Zelarino and Udine met for a retreat to mark the 150th anniversary of the Founder’s birth. Fr. Guglielmo Camera preached on: St. Guido and missionary consecration. A reflection on the topic in this year dedicated to the consecrated life.
