Nel 1973, l’Editrice Missionaria Italiana “E.M.I.” fu fondata come espressione della missionarietà ad Gentes dei quattro Istituti maschili di origine italiana, con il motto "parole per cambiare il mondo". Tra i pionieri, va ricordato l'indimenticabile nostro confratello p. Augusto Luca. Nel corso degli anni, l’Editrice E.M.I. ha accolto tutti i 14 Istituti Missionari presenti in Italia, diventando una realtà unica nel panorama editoriale. L’Editrice E.M.I. è stata un osservatorio privilegiato sui fatti del mondo, ma anche un laboratorio capace, attraverso libri, workshop, mostre ed eventi, di riflettere sulle “frontiere” della Chiesa e della cultura laica, affrontando i grandi temi del nostro tempo.
Negli ultimi 18 anni la casa Editrice E.M.I. - durante i quali il nostro confratello p. Rosario Giannattasio ne è stato Presidente - a motivo del venir meno di alcune condizioni in particolare nella destinazione di personale per questo servizio e quindi in grado di assicurare l’ attività come nel passato, si è giunti alla decisione di integrare l’Editrice E.M.I. e la sua “missione” al progetto della società editoriale "Portico", con l'obiettivo di valorizzare la storia e il ricco catalogo dell’E.M.I., continuando ad offrire contenuti di formazione ed informazione teologica e di riflessione e prassi missionaria. 1973 - BEGINNINGS OF THE MISSIONARY PUBLISHING HOUSE “E.M.I.”. 2024 - A NEW ALLIANCE
In 1973, the Italian Missionary Publishing house “E.M.I.” was founded as an expression of the missionary work ad Gentes of the four male institutes of Italian origin, with the motto “words to change the world”. Among the pioneers, our unforgettable confrere Fr Augusto Luca. Over the years, the Publishing house E.M.I. has welcomed all 14 Missionary Institutes present in Italy, becoming a unique reality in the publishing panorama. The Publishing House “E.M.I.” has been a privileged observatory on the events of the world, but also a laboratory capable, through books, workshops, exhibitions and events, of reflecting on the ‘frontiers’ of the Church and secular culture, addressing the challenging issues of our time.
Over the past 18 years - during which our confrere Fr Rosario Giannattasio has been its President - due to the lack of certain conditions in particular in the provision of personnel for this service and thus able to ensure the activity as in the past, the decision was taken to integrate the Publishing House “E.M.I.” and its ‘mission’ to the project of the publishing company ‘Portico’, with the aim of enhancing the history and rich catalogue of the E.M.I., continuing to offer content for theological training and information, and for missionary reflection and practice.
