Le donne congolesi sono scese in piazza per far sentire la propria voce. Venerdì 08 marzo 2024 hanno marciato, vestite di nero in segno di lutto per le vittime, lungo le strade di Bukavu, capoluogo del Sud-Kivu: “Noi, donne del Congo, rifiutiamo la guerra, gli stupri e il saccheggio delle nostre risorse”.

Centinaia di donne nell’est congolese, flagellato dalle violenze, attacchi sessuali e mutilazioni, fuggono verso zone più sicure.  L’ong Save the Children ha stimato più di 800 casi di violenza sessuale e di genere effettuati con ogni mezzo da parte di uomini armati nelle tre province orientali colpite dalla conflittualità: Ituri, Nord Kivu e Sud Kivu. Queste violenze riguardano anche molte minorenni.

Congolese women took to the streets to make their voices heard. On Friday, March 8^th, 2024, they marched through the streets of Bukavu, the capital of South-Kivu, dressed in black as a sign of mourning for the victims: “We, women of Congo, reject war, rape and the plunder of our resources.”

Hundreds of women in the east of Congo, plagued by violence, sexual attacks and mutilation, flee to safer areas. The NGO Save the Children estimated more than 800 cases of sexual and gender-based violence perpetrated with different types of means by armed men in the three conflict-affected eastern provinces: Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu. Many minors are also victims of such violence.
