Quest’anno la DC ha tenuto la sua Assemblea annuale a Manila, Filippine, ospite della Comunità della Teologia Internazionale. Ragione della scelta di Manila era la necessità di trovare un luogo dove si potesse facilmente ricevere il VISA. La scelta si è rivelata molto felice perché i Confratelli della Delegazione Cinese hanno potuto conoscere e condividere la vita della Comunità, e anche spiegare in qualche modo le particolarità della loro missione.

Le sedute si sono svolte in un clima di gioia per poterci ritrovare insieme (purtroppo Martino ed Enrico non erano presenti) e in particolare ascoltare le prime impressioni dei nuovi arrivati, conoscendoci così un po’ più a fondo.

Parte rilevante dell’Assemblea è stata la condivisione della propria esperienza e attività: non semplicemente nell’ultimo anno, ma in qualche modo fin dagli inizi della propria ‘chiamata’ a ‘questa’ missione. Inutile dire che questa condivisione ha reso più profonda la comunione tra noi e l’entusiasmo per andare avanti.

C’è poi stata la serie degli argomenti da discutere. Anche in questa parte dell’Assemblea abbiamo sperimentato quanto l’atteggiamento di fiducia reciproca nella sapienza dei confratelli e l’ascolto delle varie proposte siano stati utili a raggiungere un generale ‘consenso consultivo’, che ha offerto un utile punto di partenza per le decisioni del Consiglio. Alla fine, ci si è dato appuntamento per l’anno prossimo, possibilmente a Taipei, ma anche altrove, e perché no? Di nuovo a Manila.

Di grande importanza sono stati gli incontri Saveriani. Innanzitutto, ci siamo incontrati con la Comunità in modo informale ai pasti e ai Vesperi, poi a una celebrazione di compleanno, con la sua liturgia comunitaria propria, molto ben congegnata; infine, in un incontro formale in cui abbiamo condiviso la nostra esperienza.

In secondo luogo, abbiamo avuto un incontro di condivisione con il Gruppo di Laici Saveriani Filippini. Un incontro molto bello in cui abbiamo imparato dal modo con cui si sono organizzati, fanno incontri di formazione seguiti da promesse; abbiamo ascoltato le loro esperienze di servizio missionario, in particolare nel catecumenato, che anche nelle Filippine, come altrove, è luogo del futuro della Chiesa; e nella loro collaborazione con la comunità della Teologia in occasione di eventi speciali.

C’è stato poi l’incontro con i giovani della nostra Parrocchia di San Francis Xavier, anche questo molto interessante e costruttivo, in vista della diffusione dello spirito missionario, e, perché no? di qualche vocazione.

Non ultimi in importanza sono stati: una cena offerta dalla Delegazione delle Filippine – grazie p. Patrick S.S.! – occasione di crescita nella fraternità; e il pranzo nella parrocchia, con i pp. Simone P., Eugenio P., il Diacono Martinus Z.Y. e lo studente Jean-Marie M.B. Tutti momenti che devono aver dato gioia al nostro Fondatore, che benevolo e paziente ci guardava dall’Alto. (Fabrizio Tosolini sx)

This year, the ChD held its Annual Assembly in Manila, in the Philippines, hosted by the International Theology Community. The reason for choosing Manila was the need to find a location where visas could be easily obtained. The choice proved to be a very fortunate one, as the Confreres of the Chinese Delegation were able to learn about and share the life of the Community, and also explain in some way the specifics of their mission.

The sessions were held in a joyful atmosphere, allowing us to gather (unfortunately, Martino R. and Enrico R. were not present) and, in particular, to listen to the first impressions of the newcomers (to the ChD), thus getting to know each other a little more.

A key part of the Assembly was the sharing of our experiences and activities: not just over the past year, but in some ways from the beginning of our "calling" to "this" mission.

This sharing deepened our communion and our enthusiasm to move forward.

Then came the series of topics for discussion. During this part of the Assembly, we also experienced how the attitude of mutual trust in the wisdom of the confreres and the listening to the various proposals were useful in reaching a general "consultative consensus," which offered a useful starting point for the Council's decisions. In the end, we agreed to meet again next year, possibly in Taipei, but also elsewhere, and why not? Again, in Manila.

The Xaverian Meetings were of great importance too.

First, we met informally with the Community at meals and Vespers, then at a birthday celebration, with its own very well-crafted “community liturgy”, and finally at a formal meeting where we shared our experience.

Second, we had a sharing meeting with the Filipino Lay Xaverian Group. It was a very rich meeting, where we learned from the way they organize themselves, conduct formation meetings followed by promises; we listened to their experiences of missionary service, particularly in the catechumenate, which in the Philippines, as elsewhere, is the place of the Church's future; and in their collaboration with the Theology community during special events.

Then there was a meeting with the young people of our Saint Francis Xavier Parish, also very interesting and constructive, with a view to spreading the missionary spirit and, why not? a few vocations.

Not least of all were a dinner hosted by the Philippine Delegation — thank you, Fr Patrick S. S.! — an opportunity for growth in fraternity; and lunch in the parish, with Fathers Simone P. and Eugenio P., Deacon Martinus Z. Y., and the student Jean-Marie M.B. All moments that must have brought joy to our Founder, who benevolently and patiently was contemplating us from on high. (Fabrizio Tosolini s.x.)
