Da Bukavu ci scrivono: “Dal 27 gennaio al 1° febbraio i saveriani del Congo si sono radunati a Bukavu, alla Domus, come Assemblea, per riflettere e cercare soluzioni. Il tema principale: “Sempre aperti alle sorprese dello Spirito Santo”; in concreto, la discussione è stata sul riposizionamento tenendo fisse le priorità ormai di tutta la congregazione, quali la formazione e l’annuncio del Vangelo. I vari conferenzieri si sono succeduti, da Mons. François Xavier Maroy, arcivescovo di Bukavu, a P. Donatien Lwiyando, da P. Basuzwa Gabriel, venuto da Bujumbura, a tutti noi che prendevamo la parola illuminata dal discernimento.

Dopo 60 anni di presenza saveriana, siamo coscienti che qui in Congo i giovani sono ancora tanti a voler seguire la vocazione di Gesù, primo missionario del Padre, e che la missione dell’Annuncio del Regno di Dio è ancora tutta da completare. Anche in questa assemblea la fraternità ha guadagnato il primo posto.”

The Xaverians write from Bukavu:  “From January 27^th to February 1^st, the Xaverians from the Democratic Republic of Congo have gathered and assembled in the Domus of Bukavu to reflect and search for solutions.  The main theme was: “Always open to the surprises of the Holy Spirit”.  Concretely, the discussion was focused on the reorganization of  their presences and activities within the priorities set for the whole Congregation on the First Announcement of the Gospel.”  The conferences were guided by: Mons. Francois Xavier Maroy, Archbishop of Bukavu, Fr. Donatien Lwiyando, Fr. Basuzwa Gabriel, who had come from Bujumbura, and by all of us who shared our thoughts and our discernment.

After 60 years of Xaverian presence, we are aware that here in the Democratic Republic of Congo there are many young persons who are willing to pursue to vocation of Jesus, first missionary of the Father, and also are aware that the Mission of announcing the Kingdom of God is not as yet completed. Our fraternity, also in this Assembly, has taken first prize.
