Per noi Missionarie di Maria – Saveriane, ogni volta che celebriamo la festa del “Sì” della Madre Celestina, celebriamo anche il nostro “Sì”, di ogni giorno, alla sequela di Cristo. Quest’anno le comunità Saveriane che vivono a Roma (Viale Vaticano 40, Via Aurelia 287 e Via Trionfale No. 7515) si sono ritrovate per celebrare insieme il dono del carisma missionario ricevuto da San Guido Maria Conforti, dalla Ven. Celestina Bottego insieme a p. Giacomo Spagnolo. È stata una giornata gioiosa e fraterna, vissuta nello spirito di famiglia le cui radici sono belle, vive e comuni.

Eravamo in 28 nella piccola cappella e nel piccolo refettorio. La cappella, nonostante le piccole dimensioni, ha permesso di accompagnare i canti in varie lingue anche con alcuni gesti corporali. Il refettorio, preparato a festa nei minimi dettagli, ha consentito di far passare con eleganza il “bugali” (polenta di manioca), il “sombe” (foglie cotte di manioca condite con arachidi) e il pesce preparati con tanta passione dalle consorelle. Tutto è andato benissimo. Abbiamo iniziato con la celebrazione Eucaristica presieduta da p. Mauro Loda. P. Mauro ha indicato nel “Sì” di Maria, Madre di Dio, la fonte, la forza, il coraggio, la pienezza, la grazia del “sì” della Madre Celestina Bottego.

Vorrei qui citare uno stralcio della Lettera n. 1 della Madre Bottego indirizzata alle Saveriane: “Avete mai osservato che quello che rimane impresso di più nel nostro cuore e ci lega alle persone non sono i grandi doni e favori ma i piccoli atti di bontà, gentilezza e generosità nascosta che creano un legame profondo con le anime? Se appetissimo a fare delle grandi cose forse non le faremmo mai”. Questa lettera ci invita a vivere pienamente il nostro “Sì” come missionarie nella vita quotidiana senza aspettare il domani. La nostra vita è fatta di tante piccole cose, dei piccoli gesti d’amore verso gli altri.

È con gioia, dunque, che vorremmo dire grazie a voi nostri fratelli Saveriani. Che Madre Celestina interceda per noi e ci aiuti a rinnovare giorno dopo giorno il nostro “Sì” al Signore e al carisma ricevuto. (Marceline Laissoubo Sanhoulne mmx)

For us, Xaverian Missionaries of Mary – Xaverian Sisters, each celebration of the feast of Mother Celestina’s “Yes!” is a celebration of our own “Yes!”, that of every day following Christ. This year, our Xaverian communities in Rome (Viale Vaticano 40, Via Aurelia 287 and Via Trionfale 7515) gathered to celebrate together the gift of the missionary charism received by St Guido Maria Conforti, and by the Ven. Celestina Bottego along with Fr. Giacomo Spagnolo. It has been a day of joy and fraternity, which we spent in a family spirit whose roots are beautiful, alive and common to all of us. In the little chapel and little refectory, we were 28. Despite its small size, the chapel had enough room to accompany our songs in various languages with some movements of the body. In the refectory, which was festively prepared down to the last detail, the bugali (cassava porridge), sombe (cocked cassava leaves with peanuts) and the fish prepared with passion by the sisters were served with much elegance. Everything went perfectly. We started with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Mauro Loda. He pointed to the “Yes!” of Mary, the Mother of God, as the source, strength, courage, fullness and grace of the Mother Celestin Bottego’s own “Yes!”

Here, it may be appropriate to quote a passage from the Letter n. 1 which Mother Bottego addressed to the Xaverian Sisters: “Have you ever noticed that what remains most impressed in our hearts and binds us to people are not the great gifts and favours, but the small acts of goodness, kindness and hidden generosity that create a deep connection with the souls? On the contrary, if we had an urge for doing great things, perhaps we would never do them.” This letter invites us to live our “Yes!” fully as missionaries today, every day, without waiting for tomorrow. Our life is made up of many little things, of little gestures of love towards others.
