Domenica 3 ottobre è stata una giornata speciale per la Famiglia Saveriana Carismatica.  Dopo 15 mesi (2-07-2020 / 3-10-2021) si è concluso l’Anno Giubilare: il primo centenario delle prime Costituzioni e della Lettera Testamento, che coincide anche con il 125° anniversario della fondazione dell’Istituto.

Alla Concelebrazione Eucaristica, presieduta dal superiore generale, p. Fernando García R., erano presenti i superiori delle 20 circoscrizioni saveriane sparse nel mondo (una piccola ONU Saveriana), le Missionarie di Maria-Saveriane, il Laicato Saveriano, gli amici e benefattori dei Missionari Saveriani. Dato il numero dei partecipanti, gli ammalati del quarto piano hanno partecipato solo via streaming, ascoltando il p. Generale che ci raccomandava che “la chiusura dell’Anno Giubilare non è la fine di qualchecosa, ma una vera e gioiosa ripartenza”.

Dopo la Messa il p. Generale, assieme ad altri Superiori di circoscrizione, ha fatto una visita a sorpresa al quarto piano dove i confratelli stavano finendo il pranzo. La sala è diventata un Cenacolo di Pentecoste, per l’accavallarsi di lingue diverse. Ognuno cercava di incontrare il Superiore della propria circoscrizione dove aveva vissuto e lavorato. Non è stato solo uno scambio di informazioni, ma di memorie e di abbracci. Solamente chi li dava o li riceveva sapeva interpretare: chi da maestro e chi da discepolo, chi da parroco e chi da cappellano.

Il tempo è stato troppo breve, ma, come per le medicine, l’effetto benefico è rimasto: serenità e gioia, anche nella sofferenza, assieme alla certezza che in missione ci ricordano, che il bene fatto continua a diffondersi e che possiamo continuare ad aiutarli con la nostra preghiera. Sunday, October 3^rd, has been a special day for the Xaverian Charismatic Family. After 15 months (July 2^nd, 2020 – October 3^rd, 2021), the Jubilee Year has come to an end. The Jubilee celebrated one hundred years from the first Constitutions and the Testament Letter, and coincided with the 125^th anniversary of our Institute’s foundation.

The Eucharistic celebration presided by the General Superior, Fr. Fernando García R., was attended by the superiors of the 20 Xaverian circumscriptions around the world (a sort of little Xaverian UN), the Xaverian Sisters - Missionaries of Mary, the Xaverian Laity, and friends and benefactors of the Xaverian Missionaries. Due to the large number of people in attendance, the fourth-floor patients could only follow the live streaming of the celebration. They listened to Fr. General urging us to consider “the conclusion of the Jubilee Year, not as the end of something, but as a true and joyful new beginning.”

After Mass, Fr. General together with the Superiors of circumscriptions made a surprise visit to the fourth floor where confreres were finishing their lunch. The overlapping of different languages transformed the dining hall into a Cenacle of the Pentecost. Everyone tried to meet the Superior of the circumscription where he had lived and worked. There was no exchange of news but of memories and hugs. Only those who gave or received those hugs could interpret them: some were given by teachers, some by disciples; some by parish pastors, some by chaplains.

Time was too short but, as with good medicine, its beneficial effects remained: serenity and joy – even in the midst of suffering –, along with the certainty that in the missions they remember us, that the good done continues spreading and that we can still help them through our prayer.
