Quest'anno la Quaresima e il Ramadan coincidono per alcuni giorni e per noi qui in Marocco non è ancora noto se il Ramadan inizia il 2 o il 3. È necessario, infatti, vedere la formazione della luna. Questa data non coincide sempre con quella dell'Arabia Saudita. Come Saveriani, qui a Fidneq, ci impegniamo a vivere il tempo di grazia della Quaresima con uno sguardo fraterno verso questo prezioso tempo del Ramadan: digiunare, camminare alla ricerca di Dio cercando di avvicinarsi alla realtà dei fratelli.

La nostra comunità ha voluto condividere il frutto delle sue fatiche con un'associazione di Fnideq, che darà cibo alle famiglie più povere in modo che la notte, quando rompono il digiuno, abbiano qualcosa da mangiare. Rendiamo così ragione della Quaresima come espressione di conversione a Dio Padre e di condivisione con i più deboli.

La nazione del Marocco vive con un forte senso di attesa questo tempo: lo si vede per le strade, lo si sente nell'ambiente. Senza dubbio si tratta di un'espressione di fede e amore che ci fa entrare nel mistero del “Padre comune”, secondo la nota espressione del nostro Fondatore. (Rolando Ruíz Durán sx)  

This year, some days of Lent coincide with Ramadan, whose start here in Morocco has not yet been determined – it may be either on April 2^nd or 3^rd,  depending on the shape of the moon. Here, this date does not always correspond with that of Saudi Arabia. As Xaverians residing in Fidneq, we are committed to living this Lent, time of grace, by looking fraternally at the precious time of Ramadan, by fasting while walking in search for God and reaching out to our brothers. 

Our community has decided to share the results of its endeavours with an association in Fnideq that will distribute food to the poorer families so that at night, when they break their fast, they may have something to eat. This motivates our own Lent as expression of conversion to God the Father and as sharing with the weak.

The Moroccan nation lives this season with a strong sense of yearning. One can detect it in the streets and feel it in the air. Undoubtedly, it is about that faith and that love which allow us to enter the mystery of a “common Father”, as our Founder notably put it. (Rolando Ruíz Durán s.x.)
