Il tema scelto da Leone XIV, “Io invece non ti dimenticherò mai” (Is 49, 15), richiama la vicinanza di Dio e l’impegno della comunità verso gli anziani, soprattutto quelli più soli.
Papa Leone XIV, rivolgendosi direttamente agli anziani nel suo messaggio, li incoraggia così: “Non abbiate paura della fragilità!”, spiegando che questa debolezza, se accolta, apre il cuore all’invocazione e diventa essa stessa vocazione. Ne è segno concreto la missione che il Papa affida proprio agli anziani: unirsi a lui nella preghiera insistente perché giunga presto la pace nel mondo.

The theme chosen by Pope Leo XIV, ‘But I will never forget you’ (Isaiah 49,15), highlights God’s closeness and the community’s commitment to the elderly, especially those who are alone.
Pope Leo XIV, addressing the elderly directly in his message, encourages them as follows: “Do not be afraid of fragility!”, explaining that this weakness, if embraced, opens the heart to prayer and becomes a vocation in itself. A concrete sign of this is the mission that the Pope entrusts specifically to the elderly: to join him in persistent prayer so that peace may soon come to the world.
