La Comunità di Tavernerio, oltre ai diversi servizi di Animazione Missionaria e ministero nelle comunità cristiane di Como e Milano, in questo periodo ha ripreso le sue normali attività di accoglienza dei Gruppi.

Il nostro servizio alla Chiesa locale in queste ultime settimane si è arricchito di un incarico temporaneo: ci è stato chiesto di offrire il nostro sostegno all’Unità Pastorale di Tavernerio che, da febbraio, è rimasta senza parroco. Per questa ragione, fino alla seconda metà di maggio, p. Salvatore Marongiu sx sta collaborando in maniera stabile nella nostra parrocchia di residenza.

Un altro momento di particolare gratitudine l’abbiamo vissuto domenica 20 marzo 2022, in occasione del trigesimo della morte del nostro confratello p. Francesco (Franco) Bertazza sx. Ci siamo ritrovati con molti amici e gruppi che p. Franco era solito accompagnare nel suo ministero missionario (e che non avevano potuto partecipare alle sue esequie) per celebrare l’Eucaristia. Il momento di fraternità è continuato poi con il pranzo in uno spirito di famiglia Saveriana allargata: erano presenti, infatti, più di 70 persone, nel ricordo di una testimonianza di fede e di un'amicizia che vuole continuare con i Missionari Saveriani.

Questi incontri ci offrono la possibilità di scoprire quanto bene i nostri confratelli hanno seminato fino alla fine della loro consacrazione missionaria. Veramente dobbiamo ringraziare il Signore che ci fa toccare con mano quanto siano vere le parole del salmista: "nella vecchiaia daranno ancora frutti...". (Pietro Pierobon sx)

Apart from various activities of Mission Awareness Ministry and at the service of Christian communities in Como and Milan, recently the Community of Tavernerio has resumed its usual hospitality towards Groups.

In the last few weeks, our service to the local Church has been enriched by a temporary commitment: we have been asked to offer our support to the Pastoral Unit of Tavernerio that has remained without pastor since February. This is why, till the second half of May, Fr. Salvatore Marongiu s.x. will be collaborating on a regular basis with this parish in whose territory we reside.

On Sunday, March 20^th, 2022, we experienced another moment of special gratitude when we marked thirty days since the death of our confrere, Fr. Francesco (Franco) Bertazza s.x. We gathered for a Eucharistic celebration with many of the friends and groups that Fr. Franco used to accompany as part of his missionary ministry (and that could not attend his funeral). That moment of fraternity continued with a lunch, in the spirit of a larger Xaverian family. There were more than 70 people; they joined to remember Fr. Franco’s witness of faith and friendship – a legacy they intend to carry on further with the Xaverian Missionaries.

Similar encounters provide us with the opportunity to discover how much good has been sowed by our confreres till the end of their lives as consecrated missionaries. We really must thank the Lord who makes us see first-hand how true the psalmist’s words are: they shall still bear fruit in old age… (Pietro Pierobon s.x.)
