Santa Teresa aveva una fiducia illimitata in San Giuseppe, considerato l’economo manager, capace di far miracoli per l’approvvigionamento e la sistemazione delle sue povere monache che, come lui, sostenevano silenziosamente ed efficacemente la presenza di Gesù nel mondo. 

Papa Francesco, arrivando a Roma, aveva portato con sé una statuetta di San Giuseppe dormiente. E spiegherà alla stampa che era abituato a riporre sotto di essa un bigliettino su cui scriveva le più ardue questioni che doveva affrontare. Dal momento che nel sonno erano giunte a Giuseppe le ispirazioni divine per le scelte da compiere, impetrava in tal modo consiglio in ordine alla loro soluzione.

Venerdì 18 marzo 2022, in un momento in cui la comunità saveriana di Vicenza era riunita, il rettore, p. Silvano Zordanello s.x., ha mostrato una vecchia cartolina postale raffigurante la piccola statuetta di San Giuseppe appartenente al Venerabile Pietro Uccelli s.x. con la scritta: "San Giuseppe, pensaci tu." Sul retro, oltre alla dicitura ISTITUTO MISSIONI ESTERE – VICENZA, BORGO S. CROCE, c'è la scritta "San Giuseppe, Economo dell'Istituto."

Venerabile Pietro Uccelli sx, aiutaci a continuare ad affidare a San Giuseppe i “bigliettini” della nostra vita, per avere lumi sulle spinose questioni che riguardano l’esistenza umana, mettendo sempre al centro la presenza di Gesù. Nel tuo amore alla missione, Venerabile confratello, aiutaci a ripetere con altrettanta fiducia e nelle diverse circostanze della vita: “San Giuseppe pensaci tu”.

St Teresa placed an incommensurable trust in St Joseph. She considered him a treasurer and manager capable of performing miracles in securing supplies and an accommodation for her nuns who, like him, silently but efficaciously supported Jesus’ presence in the world.

On arriving in Rome, Pope Francis brought a statuette of a sleeping St Joseph along. Later, he would explain to the press that he used to place under that statuette a little note on which he had written the most pressing issues he was facing, for it was during sleep that St Joseph received divine inspirations about the course of action to be taken. It was in this manner that the pope would ask for advice on how to solve problems.

On Friday, March 18th, 2022, during a gathering of the Xaverian community in Vicenza, the rector, Fr. Silvano Zordanello s.x., showed an old postal card with the picture of the little statuette of St Joseph that belonged to the Venerable Pietro Uccelli s.x. and the words: "St Joseph, please, take care of it." On the back the postal card, apart from the caption ISTITUTO MISSIONI ESTERE  – VICENZA, BORGO S. CROCE, one reads also the words "St Joseph, treasurer of the institute."

Venerable Pietro Uccelli s.x., help us continue entrusting our “little notes” to St Joseph so as to gain understanding about the pressing issues concerning human existence and always place Jesus at the centre of life. Since you too, Venerable confrere, love mission, help us repeat with the same confidence and in the various circumstances of life: “St Joseph, please, take care of it”.
