Sabato 20 gennaio 2024, il Consiglio comunale della Città di Rosà (Vicenza), con voto unanime, ha conferito il premio “Città di Rosà” a P. Giovanni Didoné. Una commissione ha preso l’iniziativa e alla seduta di sabato, i membri del gruppo hanno presentato le motivazioni, la biografia del nuovo beato, la situazione del paese del tempo, il martirio. Hanno partecipato alla celebrazione i pp. Gianni Viola sx, collaboratore della Postulazione, e Giuseppe Dovigo sx, collaboratore nella preparazione dei profili dei confratelli defunti, il fratello di p. Giovanni Didoné, il Signor Albino con la moglie, vari nipoti e parenti. Alla fine, la Dottoressa Mezzalira Elena, sindaco di Rosà, ha consegnato a p. Gianni Viola l’attestazione, in un elegante quadro, il Premio “Città di Rosà” con un dono alla Causa di Beatificazione. P. Gianni Viola ha ringraziato a nome di tutti i Missionari Saveriani, annunciando poi la decisione di Papa Francesco di riconoscere tra i beati p. Giovanni Didoné, insieme ad altri due confratelli Saveriani, Fratel Vittorio Faccin e padre Luigi Carrara, e al sacerdote diocesano Abbé Joubert, uccisi con lui nello stesso giorno in Congo nel 1964. L’attenzione ora della città di Rosà, della comunità cristiana e dei parenti è orientata al giorno della beatificazione che sarà verso la metà di agosto 2024, nel santuario della Madonna del Tanganika a Uvira nella RD Congo. Sarà un appuntamento di festa e di onore per il comune e la comunità parrocchiale di Rosà. (Giuseppe Dovigo sx e Gianni Viola sx)

On Saturday January 20^th, 2024, the town council of Rosà City (Vicenza) unanimously awarded the “Città di Rosà” prize to Fr. Giovanni Didonè. This initiative was taken by a committee whose members, during the Saturday session of the council, illustrated the motivations for the award, the biography of the new blessed, the situation of Congo at that time and his martyrdom. The event was attended by Fr. Gianni Viola s.x., collaborator of the Postulation, and Fr. Giuseppe Dovigo s.x., that collaborated in the preparation of the biographical sketches of the deceased confreres, the brother of Fr. Giovanni Didonè, Mr Albino, and his wife, along with various nephews and relatives. At the end of the event, Dr Elena Mezzalira, Mayor of Rosà, presented Fr. Gianni Viola with the certificate of the “Città di Rosà” Prize in an elegant frame, and a gift for the Cause of Beatification. Fr. Gianni Viola thanked on behalf of all the Xaverian Missionaries and announced Pope Francis’ decision to beatify Fr. Giovanni Didonè along with other two Xaverian confreres, Brother Vittorio Faccin and Father Luigi Carrara, and diocesan priest Abbé Joubert, who were murdered with him on that same day of 1964 in Congo. Now, the city of Rosà, the local Christian community and Fr. Didonè’s relatives focus their attention on the day of the beatification which will be around mid August 2024, in the shrine of Our Lady of Tanganika, in Uvira, DRC.
