È iniziata dalla visita al Museo d'arte cinese ed etnografico la tappa parmense dei partecipanti alla Via Lucis 2022, la location più adatta per respirare da subito l’audace progetto di Mons. Conforti: quello della fondazione di un Istituto Missionario e di un Museo.

I giovani “viandanti” si sono presentati e ci hanno descritto la Via Lucis 2022. Tremila chilometri in quattordici giorni viaggiando in treno accompagnati da quattordici testimoni scelti come vere e proprie stelle o guide spirituali del proprio cammino, ospitati da famiglie religiose missionarie per incontrare dal vivo la missione e i carismi. Giunta alla sua quarta edizione, quest’anno è stata organizzata dall’associazione Tucum Odv in collaborazione con Terra e Missione Aps e con il Festival della Missione.

Ci siamo poi presentati come Famiglia Carismatica Saveriana, composta e articolata in Saveriani, Missionarie di Maria Saveriane e Laici Saveriani. Bello è stato vedere come i giovani partecipanti volessero sentire da noi anche la narrazione dell’inizio della nostra vocazione missionaria.

Inoltre, ci siamo uniti ai partecipanti e abbiamo raggiunto il centro della città per un momento di preghiera in Piazza Garibaldi e di incontro con i poveri. Un momento semplice e cordiale vissuto nel rispetto delle persone che abbiamo incontrato.

Dopo cena, nella cornice del Santuario Guido Maria Conforti, la “tenda” della Via Lucis si è allargata per accogliere amici e accompagnatori della carovana.

Giandonato Salvia ha raccontato a tutti della Via Lucis 2022 e del suo slogan “Lo hai fatto a me” preso da una grande missionaria quale è stata Madre Teresa di Calcutta.

Ci ha brevemente introdotti nel Progetto di economia solidale TUCUM. Oggi Tucum è il nome di un’App grazie alla quale è possibile donare in favore delle persone più bisognose contrastando il fenomeno dei falsi poveri e del racket dell’elemosina. L’App richiama la tradizione partenopea del caffè sospeso dove offrire un caffè al bar a chi non può permetterselo e che equivale al prendersi cura dell’altro.

Insieme abbiamo sostato in adorazione, illuminati dalla testimonianza di Sarah Calvano (1973-1992), avolese nota per le pagine del suo diario, Il Magnificat di Sarah.

L’indomani, un’eucarestia con le Missionarie di Maria Saveriane, seguita da una gustosa colazione, ha dato inizio alla nuova giornata della carovana e ha permesso ai partecipanti di incontrare la congregazione di Padre Giacomo Spagnolo e di Celestina Bottego. Con gli zaini in spalla, salutandoci e augurandoci buon cammino, i viandanti sono poi partiti in treno per raggiungere la città vicina di Piacenza dove saranno ospitati dalle Suore Scalabriniane. Participants in Via Lucis 2022 stopped in Parma where they visited the Museum of Chinese Art and Ethnography. There was no better place for beginning to sense, right away, the audacity of Msgr. Conforti’s project – the foundation of a Missionary Institute and a Museum.  

The young “wayfarers” introduced themselves and illustrated Via Lucis 2022 to our community. Via Lucis is a 3000-kilometre-long pilgrimage lasting fourteen days. It is done by train, accompanied by fourteen witnesses that are selected as true stars or spiritual leaders of the journey; along the way, the wayfarers are hosted by religious families, whose mission and charism they have the chance to know first-hand. This year, Via Lucis, which reached its fourth edition, was organised by the association Tucum Odv, in collaboration with Terra e Missione Aps and Mission Festival (Festival della Missione).

We then introduced ourselves as Xaverian Charismatic Family composed of the Xaverians, the Xaverian Missionary Sisters of Mary, and Xaverian Laity. It was beautiful to see the young participants’ desire to know about us and the beginnings of our missionary vocations.

Subsequently, we joined the participants and headed towards the city centre for a moment of prayer in Garibaldi Square and to meet the poor. The event was simple but genuine and respectful of the people we met.

After supper, within the background of Guido Maria Conforti Shrine, the “tent” of Via Lucis spread open to welcome friends and companions of the caravan.   

Giandonato Salvia told us about Via Lucis 2022 and its slogan “You have done it to me”, which was also adopted by a great missionary such as Mother Teresa of Calcutta. He then briefly illustrated a project of solidarity economy called TUCUM. Today, TUCUM is also the name of an app which helps to make donations for the needy while fighting the phenomenon of fake poor and the racket of alms. The app is based on the Neapolitan tradition of “a suspended coffee” – the habit of paying for an extra coffee at the bar, coffee that will be donated to one unknown customer who cannot afford it. It is a way of caring for others.

We then stopped in adoration, led by the testimony of Sarah Calvano (1973-1992), a girl from Avola (Sicily) renown for her life of faith she recorded in a diary, Il Magnificat di Sarah.

On the following day, the celebration of Mass with the Xaverian Missionary Sister of Mary and a delicious breakfast initiated the caravan’s new day and allowed participants to meet the congregation founded by Fr. Giacomo Spagnolo and Celestina Bottego. Finally, wearing their backpacks, they greeted us and wished us a good journey. The wayfarers then left by train to reach the next city of Piacenza where they would be guest of the Scalabrinian Sisters. (Filippo Rondi s.x.)
