Il Dicastero per la Promozione dell'Unità dei Cristiani ha messo a disposizione i testi in inglese della Settimana di preghiera per l'unità dei cristiani 2025. Nell'emisfero Nord, la Settimana di preghiera si svolge tradizionalmente dal 18 al 25 gennaio, mentre nell'emisfero Sud, dove gennaio è spesso un periodo festivo, essa viene celebrata di solito intorno alla Pentecoste.

Il tema della Settimana di preghiera per l'unità dei cristiani del 2025 si ispira al brano del Vangelo di Giovanni: "Credi tu questo?" (Gv 11,26). Le preghiere e le riflessioni sono state preparate dai fratelli e dalle sorelle della Comunità monastica di Bose nel nord Italia. Come di consueto, un gruppo internazionale nominato congiuntamente – dal Dicastero per la Promozione dell’Unità dei Cristiani e dalla Commissione Fede e Costituzione del Consiglio Ecumenico delle Chiese - ha lavorato sul materiale insieme ai redattori, per finalizzarlo.

Il 2025 segnerà il 1.700° anniversario del Primo Concilio Ecumenico. Questa commemorazione offre un'occasione unica per riflettere e celebrare la fede comune dei cristiani, così come è stata espressa nel Credo formulato in quel Concilio.

The Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity has made available the resources for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2025. In the Northern Hemisphere, traditionally the Week of Prayer is held from January 18^th to 25^th, while in the Southern Hemisphere, where January is often a holiday season, the week is usually celebrated close to Pentecost.

The theme of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2025 is drawn from the Gospel according to John: “Do you believe this?” (John 11: 26). The prayers and reflections were prepared by the brothers and sisters of the Monastic Community in Bose, north Italy. As usual, an international group jointly appointed by the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity and by the Commission on Faith & Order of the World Council of Churches worked with the editors for the final version of the material.

2025 will mark the 1,700^th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council. This commemoration provides a unique chance for reflecting and celebrating the common faith of Christians, as it was expressed in the Creed worded during that Council.
