“Il 2 luglio è la festa del Magnificat.... Siamo stati condotti dai fatti e dalle circostanze a riferirci al mistero della Visitazione, come a quello che ci mostra Maria unitissima a Gesù, che lo porta per le strade del mondo ed è da lui guidata nell’esercizio della carità umana ed apostolica”. Così scriveva il nostro Fondatore, padre Giacomo Spagnolo, a proposito del 2 luglio. È una data che racchiude memorie preziose della storia della nostra Famiglia missionaria e della vita dei Fondatori. È festa di famiglia, giorno privilegiato per la celebrazione delle prime professioni (quest’anno, tre nella RD del Congo) e, nelle nostre comunità, degli anniversari di professione.

Celebriamo questa festa sulle note del Magnificat. Esaltiamo il Signore che, nella sua Misericordia Onnipotente, ci ha chiamate, nella nostra piccolezza e debolezza, come strumenti amati per la Sua missione nel mondo. Ci sentiamo particolarmente unite ai nostri fratelli saveriani nel fare memoria grata della Lettera Testamento del Fondatore, San Guido Maria Conforti, pubblicata proprio il 2 luglio di cento anni fa, testo ispiratore della spiritualità di tutta la famiglia saveriana. “July 2^nd is the feast of the ‘Magnificat’… We have been led by facts and circumstances to refer to the mystery of the Visitation which shows us Mary deeply united to Jesus: Mary takes him through the streets of the world and is guided by him in the exercise of human and apostolic charity”. This is how our Founder, Fr. Giacomo Spagnolo, wrote about July 2^nd, a date that contains precious memories of the history of our missionary family and the life of the Founders.  It is a family holiday, a privileged day for the celebration of First Professions (this year, three in the D.R. of Congo) and, in our communities, for remembering our anniversaries of Profession.

We celebrate this feast on the notes of the ‘Magnificat’. Let us look at the Lord, who, in his Almighty Mercy, has called us, in our smallness and weakness, as beloved instruments for His mission in the world. We feel particularly united with our Xaverian brothers in remembering and celebrating the Anniversary of the Testament Letter of the Founder, St. Guido Maria Conforti, that was published one hundred years ago on July 2^nd.
