P. Luciano Mologni

A Parma, alle ore 22,45 del 15 ottobre 2007, è morto P. Luciano Mologni. Circa un mese prima gli era stato diagnosticato un tumore al fegato. Da alcuni giorni era stato dimesso dall’Ospedale Sant’Orsola di Bologna ed era stato portato in Casa Madre.
Aveva 63 anni compiuti, essendo nato ad Albino (BG) il 12.4.1944.
Il cammino saveriano di P. Luciano iniziò nel 1963 a Cremona. L’anno successivo fece il Noviziato a S. Pietro in Vincoli. Dopo la Prima Professione (Parma 5.11.65) frequentò i tre anni di Liceo a Tavernerio (65-68). Passò quindi a Parma per la Propedeutica e la Teologia. Fu ordinato presbitero il 24.9.72. Così fu presentato alla Professione Perpetua e ai ministeri ordinati (7.2.72): «Temperamento ricco e dotato di buona intelligenza… è molto servizievole e preciso ... collabora volentieri. Si è preparato coscienziosamente al sacerdozio».
Dopo l’ordinazione fu impegnato nel ministero e nell’economia nella comunità di Brescia e poi di Udine (73-78). Dal 1979 al 1982 lavorò in Brasile Sud, come viceparroco a Laranjeiras do sul (80-81) e come economo del Seminario Saveriano di Londrina (81-82).
Nel 1982 dovette rientrare in Italia per preoccupante dipendenza da alcol. Questa malattia segnerà da qui in avanti la vita del P. Luciano che, alternando successi e insuccessi, cercherà di uscire dall’umiliante condizione.
Dal 1982 al 1987 visse nella comunità di Parma, in cura ma anche impegnato nell’assistenza ai confratelli ammalati: «lo ha fatto sempre bene e con soddisfazione di tutti e sua, quando sta bene» (P. G. Ferrari, 31.5.87). Dal 1987 al 1990 fece parte della comunità del Collegio Conforti a Roma dove seguì dei corsi di aggiornamento all’Urbaniana e continuò l’accompagnamento terapeutico. Scriveva l’allora Vicario Generale P. Signorelli (6.12.88): «Siamo molto contenti quando le cose vanno bene e lui sta bene, perché è veramente un caro confratello: generoso e servizievole. Ci sono però, ancora, dei momenti meno felici...».
Dopo alcuni anni (1990-1997) passati prevalentemente nel Centro di Accoglienza APRES di S. Giuliano (MI), dal 1997 trascorse un periodo in famiglia per assistere il papà anziano e malato e poi, dal 1999, nella comunità saveriana di Alzano, apprezzato per «la sua delicatezza, la sua sensibilità e profonda umanità [che] lo fanno sentire molto vicino alla gente, soprattutto ammalati, persone bisognose e altri conoscenti che visita regolarmente» (P. Bradanini, 29.9.1999).
Dal 2000 al 2002 visse a Tavernerio, impegnato nel ministero. Dal 2002 al 2004 fu nelle comunità terapeutiche dei Padri Venturini di Trento e dei Padri Francescani di Monselice (PD). Nel 2004 fu destinato a Parma, sempre in cura e dedito a qualche servizio di ministero. Da qui, dopo qualche tempo, fu di nuovo trasferito in una comunità terapeutica, Il Quadrifoglio, di Ozzano Emilia (BO): era sereno anche perché poteva prestare il suo servizio sacerdotale, i fine settimana, nella parrocchia del paese, con soddisfazione del parroco e dei fedeli. E questo, fino all’ultimo ricovero in ospedale, il Sant’Orsola di Bologna.
Forse la luce che non si è mai spenta nel difficile cammino di P. Luciano è stata l’attenzione all’altro. Scriveva il 3.4.2004: «Finalmente ho terminato di fasciarmi con sensi di colpa altamente negativi. E ho potuto vedere che anch’io, malgrado i segni esterni di una dipendenza, non sono così povero da non poter dare qualcosa ad un altro povero. Quelle parole di Papa Giovanni Paolo Il sono riuscito a portarle nel cuore».

Fr. Luciano Mologni died in Parma on Oct. 15 2007, at 10:45pm. A month earlier he had been diagnosed with a tumor on the liver. A few days before his death he had been discharged from the Sant’Orsola Hospital in Bologna and taken home to the Mother House.
Born in Albino (Bergamo), on April 12 1944, Fr. Luciano was 63 years old.
His Xaverian adventure began in 1963 at Cremona. The following year he made his Novitiate at S. Pietro in Vincoli. After his First Profession in Parma, on Nov. 5 1965, he spent three years in the Liceo at Tavernerio (1965-68). He then moved to Parma for the Propaedeutic course and Theology. He was ordained priest on Sept. 24 1972. His presentation to Final Profession and the ordained ministries said: «He is endowed with a rich temperament and good intelligence… he is very obliging and precise…he is a willing collaborator. He has prepared himself diligently for the priesthood » (Feb. 7 1972).
After his ordination he worked in the pastoral ministry and finances of the Brescia and, thereafter, the Udine communities (1973-78). From 1979 until 1982 he worked in South Brazil, as assistant priest in Laranjeiras do sul (1980-81) and treasurer in the Xaverian Seminary of Londrina (1981-82).
In 1982 he had to return to Italy because of a worrying dependence on alcohol. The illness was to mark the rest of his life and, with alternating periods of success and failure, Fr. Luciano always tried to get out of this humiliating condition.
From 1982 until 1987 he lived in the community of Parma, where he received care and also gave his assistance to the sick confreres: «he always carried out this service well, to his own and everyone’s satisfaction, when he was in good health » (Fr. G. Ferrari, May 31 1987). From 1987 until 1990 he was a member of the Collegio Conforti community in Rome, where he attended aggiornamento courses at the Urbaniana University and continued to receive treatment. Fr. Signorelli, who was then Vicar General, wrote: «We are very happy when things are going well and he is in good health, because he is truly a very dear confrere: generous and helpful. However, there are still periods when things are not so good…» (Dec. 6, 1988).
After a few years (1990-1997) spent mainly in the “Centro di Accoglienza APRES” at S. Giuliano (MI), in 1997 he went home to assist his elderly and sick father. Two years later, in 1999, he was sent to the Xaverian community of Alzano (BG), where he was much appreciated for «his considerateness, sensitivity and profound humanity [which] make him feel very close to the people, especially the sick, needy people and others that he visits regularly » (Fr. Bradanini, Sept. 29 1999).
From 2000 until 2002 he lived in Tavernerio, where he worked in the pastoral ministry. From 2002 until 2004 he lived in the therapeutic communities of the Venturini Fathers at Trento and the Franciscan Fathers in Monselice (PD). In 2004 he was assigned to Parma, where he received treatment and worked in pastoral ministry. He was later transferred once again to a therapeutic community, the Quadrifoglio, at Ozzano Emilia (BO): he was happy there also because he was able to work in the parish ministry on weekends, to the satisfaction of the parish priest and the faithful. This lasted until his final admission to the Sant’Orsola hospital in Bologna.
Perhaps the light that never went out in the difficult life journey of Fr. Luciano was his attention to other people. In his own words: «At last I have stopped wallowing in very negative guilt feelings and I have finally realized that, in spite of the external signs of dependency, I am not so poor that I have nothing to give to others who are poor. These words of Pope John Paul II have always remained in my heart».
