Introduction
In mission with the youth and open to dialogue
After three days of hard work, the Community of the Xaverian Theology of Manila has terminated the formulation of its annual planning. Without neglecting other dimensions of our life, for the coming year we want to give particular emphasis on the Apostolic dimension. We have also decided to benefit the insights elaborated during the Synod of Bishops on the Youth, with the consequent publication of the Apostolic Exhortation Christus Vivit, and to journey together with the Church of the Philippines, which will dedicate the next year to Dialogue.
For this reason, during the next year we wish to commit more energies to the apostolate with the youth and to interreligious-ecumenical dialogue.
Aware of the fact that the Pope feels the necessity of “community discernment” for the today’s Church, we strived to put it into action during our community planning. Thus, we tried to open up together to the will of God upon the life of our community. In an atmosphere of fraternity and mutual understanding, but at the same time with readiness to commit ourselves to the challenges of mission, we shared our ideas and dreams, we discussed with sincerity, and made an effort to accommodate different contributions in order to achieve a common vision on the life of our community for the next year.
For this reason, I would like to thank all the members of the community for their patience and willingness to share their insights and creativity, sometimes also ready to withdraw, if such contributions could not be accommodated in the current community planning.
Finally, we are aware that mission is not our work, but it belongs to God. It is for this reason that now we entrust our Community Planning to Him, asking His blessing upon it, so that our humble effort could bear abundant fruits in us and in the people to whom we are sent as missionaries.
