DIREZIONE GENERALE
Roma, 26 febbraio: conclusi i lavori di Consiglio, P. Generale e P. Eugenio Pulcini partono per l’Indonesia per il convegno continentale dei formatori d’Asia.
Il Convegno si svolgerà a Jakarta dal 3 al 10 marzo. Il tema di lavoro: la chiarezza carismatica saveriana e la conseguente proposta formativa.
Il 28 settembre 2015 P. Generale aveva incaricato P. Guglielmo Camera di esplorare la possibilità di iniziare il processo di canonizza-zione di P. L. Carrara, Fr. V. Faccin e P. G. Didonè, martirizzati in Congo nel 1964 assieme all’Abbé A. Joubert.
Il 16 febbraio il Segretario della Congregazione per le cause dei Santi rispondeva: “Ritengo che dal dossier presentato emergano elementi sufficienti e adeguati, sia quantitativamente che qualitativamente, per procedere ad ulteriora in ordine alla prova del martirio subito da P. Luigi Carrara, P. Giovanni Didonè, Fr. Vittorio Faccin e l’Abbè Athanase Joubert. Il mio parere è pertanto positivo”.
Il 19 febbraio, avuto il parere favorevole del Consiglio, P. Generale ha affidato al Postulatore P. Camera di seguire questa causa.
MOZAMBICO
La situazione si sta complicando e gli scontri armati vanno prendendo il sopravvento sul confronto politico.
Ora le vie di comunicazione del centro del paese sono teatro di continui attacchi e di soldati e di guerriglieri.
In questi giorni Amnesty International ha accusato il Ministero della difesa di avere giustiziato diverse persone nei distretti di Tete.
Speriamo che si plachino questi venti di guerra. Anche perché la zona centrale è alle prese con una prolungata siccità con il suo strascico di fame. Gli scontri armati stanno complicando terribilmente le cose, rendendo impossibili regolari rifornimenti in questi distretti e facendo levitare i prezzi degli alimentari. ”
CONGO REPUBBLICA DEMOCRATICA
Da Bukavu P. Dovigo scrive: “La nostra via crucis del venerdì è seguita da numerose persone, la chiesa si riempie come nelle domeniche. Il testo della preghiera è stato preparato con riferimenti alla misericordia”.

Brescia, Missionari Saveriani del febbraio 2016 è firmato da P. Filippo Rota Martir che inizia così il suo compito di direttore dello storico mensile saveriano.
Il numero ospita contestualmente il saluto di P. Marcello Storgato che l’ha visto alla direzione per 22 anni.

GENERAL DIRECTION
Rome, 26 Feb: the General Council session has ended and the Superior General and Fr. Eugenio Pulcini are preparing to travel to Indonesia, where they will take part in the intercontinental meeting of Asian formators. The meeting will take place in Jakarta (3-10 March) and will focus on the topic: Xaverian charismatic clarity and the formative proposal resulting from it .
On 28 September 2015, the Superior General entrusted Fr. Guglielmo Camera with the task of exploring the possibility of initiating a process of canonization for Fr. L. Carrara, Br. V. Faccin and Fr. G. Didonè, who were martyred in the Congo in 1964 with Abbé A. Joubert.
On 16 February, the Secretary of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints replied: “I believe that the presented dossier contains sufficient and suitable elements, both in quantity and in quality, to proceed ad ulteriora in the investigation into the martyrdom of Fr. Luigi Carrara, Fr. Giovanni Didonè, Br. Vittorio Faccin and Abbé Athanase Joubert. My opinion is therefore positive”.
On 19 February, the Superior General, with the consent of his Council, entrusted the Cause to the Postulator, Fr. Camera.
MOZAMBIQUE
The situation is becoming more complicated and armed conflict is prevailing over political dialogue.
The vital connecting roads in the center of the country are now the scenario of constant attacks by soldiers and guerrillas.
Amnesty International has accused the Ministry of Defense of executing several people in the district of Tete.
We hope that the violence will cease, also because the central part of the country is struggling with to cope with a prolonged drought and the hunger it has brought in its wake. The armed conflict makes it impossible to bring regular supplies of food into these areas and this has led to an increase in prices. ”
DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
Fr. Dovigo writes: “Many people take part in our Friday via crucis, filling the church as on Sundays. The text of the prayer is based on mercy”.

The issue conveys greetings from Fr. Marcello Storgato, who served as Director for 22 years.
