Diverse attività sono organizzate in Italia e in Burundi per commemorare il 30° anniversario di morte dei pp. Aldo Marchiol, Ottorino Maule e della missionaria laica Catina Gubert. Il 20 settembre, a Sorio (Gambellara, Vicenza, Italia) la messa vespertina domenicale sarà celebrata in suffragio dei tre Servi di Dio. Il 30 settembre, a Buyengero, Mons. Salvator Niciteretse, vescovo di Bururi,  presiederà l’eucaristia seguita da un momento di animazione e di agape fraterna nella “Sala della Pace e Riconciliazione” della parrocchia, con la partecipazione dei Saveriani e dei giovani delle comunità formative del Burundi.

Sarà un’occasione per rileggere e rivivere da Buyengero, Burundi, le parole di papa Leone a proposito di chi, come loro, ha versato il sangue dando la vita per la fede in Gesù Cristo. “La testimonianza del loro martirio è più eloquente di ogni parola: l'unità viene dalla Croce del Signore. Possa il sangue di tanti testimoni avvicinare il giorno beato in cui berremo allo stesso calice di salvezza!” (Papa Leone XIV, Omelia per la commemorazione dei martiri del XXI secolo, Roma 14 settembre 2025). Several activities are being organised in Italy and Burundi to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the death of Frs. Aldo Marchiol, Ottorino Maule and the Lay missionary Catina Gubert. On September 20, 2025, in Sorio (Gambellara, Vicenza, Italy), Sunday evening Mass will be celebrated in suffrage of the three Servants of God. On 30 September, in Buyengero, Burundi, Monsignor Salvator Niciteretse, Bishop of Bururi, will preside over the Eucharist, followed by a moment of entertainment and fraternal agape in the parish's ‘Hall of Peace and Reconciliation’, with the participation of the Xaverians and young people from the formative communities of Burundi.

It will be an opportunity to re-read and re-live from Buyengero, Burundi, the words of Pope Leo about those who, like them, shed their blood and gave their lives for their faith in Jesus Christ. ‘The witness of their martyrdom is more eloquent than any words: unity comes from the Cross of the Lord.
