Dopo 6 anni di servizio nella comunità apostolica di Udine, come animatore interno, finalmente anch'io partivo per la missione: il Messico. Dopo alcuni mesi di studio della lingua spagnola a Guadalajara, Jal. Messico, sono stato inviato nella “Missione di Santa Cruz”, nello stato di Hidalgo, Messico. Ho imparato bene la lingua preispanica chiamata Nahuatl e per 19 anni ho vissuto con e per gli indigeni. La vita lì era molto dura e difficile, ma sono stati gli anni più belli della mia vita missionaria. Poi sono stato inviato a Salamanca, Gto. e successivamente a Guadalajara, Jal. fino al mio rientro in Italia (2025). Ho trascorso 42 anni in Messico e qui ho trovato tante persone che mi hanno aiutato e voluto bene. Dopo 50 anni, sono contento e grato al Signore della scelta vocazionale missionaria e la rifarei. Grazie a tutti i miei confratelli che ho trovato sul mio cammino e che mi hanno aiutato e sopportato in questi 50 anni: a tutti, grazie! (Edoardo Candian sx)

After six years of service to the community of the minor seminary in Udine as formator, I too was finally able to leave for the mission: Mexico. I spent few months studying Spanish in Guadalajara, Jal., then I was sent to the “Mission of Santa Cruz”, in the state of Hidalgo. I learned the pre-Hispanic language called Nahuatl quite well and for 19 years I lived with and for the indigenous people. Life there was very hard and difficult, but those have been the most beautiful years of my missionary life. Then, I was sent to Salamanca, Gto., and later to Guadalajara, Jal., where I remained till my return to Italy (2025). I spent 42 years in Mexico. There I found many people who helped me and loved me. After 50 years, I am happy and grateful to the Lord for the missionary vocation; in fact, I would make this choice again.
