“In questi ultimi mesi la Direzione generale del nostro Istituto ha promosso una riflessione comunitaria fra i confratelli riguardo a quello che da qualche tempo è considerato un elemento importante dell’identità saveriana, e cioè il “volto umano del saveriano”. La riflessione comunitaria è stata coronata con la celebrazione di un convegno internazionale cui hanno partecipato 39 Saveriani oltre alla Direzione generale dell’Istituto ed alcuni altri invitati. “Volto umano del saveriano” è una terminologia recente, introdotta nella nostra tradizione saveriana in occasione della redazione della Ratio formationis xaveriana. Non la si trova negli scritti del Fondatore ma - con altri termini - si trova nella mens del Fondatore. Tutti conosciamo i cosiddetti “coefficienti” che compongono la spiritualità e l’identità del Saveriano che il Fondatore ha affidato alla Lettera Testamento (n.10): spirito di viva fede, obbedienza pronta, generosa e costante e amore intenso per la nostra Famiglia saveriana e quindi per i confratelli che la compongono…”. A REFLECTION INSPIRED BY THE “CONFERENCE ON THE HUMAN TRAITS OF THE XAVERIAN” (Parma, June 17th-28th, 2026)
“In recent months, the General Direction of our Institute has promoted a community reflection among confreres on what has for some time been considered an important element of Xaverian identity, namely, the human traits of the Xaverian.” Such community reflection culminated in an international conference attended by 39 Xaverians, the General Direction and some guest speakers. “Human traits of the Xaverian” (volto umano del saveriano) is a recent expression, introduced into our Xaverian tradition when the Ratio formationis xaveriana was drafted. One does not find it in our Founder’s writings; however, expressed with other words, one finds it present in the Founder’s mind. We all know the so-called “components” (coefficienti) that make up the spirituality and identity of the Xaverian and which the Founder described in his Testament Letter (no. 10): “a spirit of living faith (…), a spirit of prompt and ready obedience in everything, (…) and a spirit of intense love for our Xaverian Family for all the confreres who build it…” (Gabriele Ferrari s.x.)
