44 anni fa moriva la Fondatrice delle Missionarie di Maria – Saveriana, la Venerabile Madre Celestina Bottego. Nel piccolo e prezioso libro che raccoglie le riflessioni dei Teologi sulle “virtù eroiche di Madre Celestina Bottego”, si legge: “…il suo cammino spirituale fu lineare, niente di singolare, di strano, di appariscente nel suo modo di agire, di pregare, di rapportarsi: viveva però in modo straordinario la normalità della vita. Chi l’avvicinava scopriva poco per volta la ricchezza della sua vita interiore. Le sue circolari rivelano una personalità illuminata da un profondo spirito di fede, dotata di prudenza evangelica nel valutare le situazioni e di una carità squisita nei rapporti con le consorelle. Si coglie in lei una fedeltà indiscussa alla Chiesa e un vivo senso missionario. Si dimostrò una donna di grande fede, soprattutto nel fare scelte coraggiose con un’autentica fiducia nel Signore. Mostrava un fiducioso e totale abbandono alla volontà di Dio ‘che sa’, con un atteggiamento di fede umile e fiduciosa…” .

The Founder of the Xaverian Missionary Sisters of Mary, the Venerable Mother Celestina Bottego, died forty-four years ago. In the little but precious book that collects the reflections of some theologians on the “heroic virtues of Mother Celestina Bottego”, one reads: “…her spiritual journey was linear; there was nothing peculiar, nor strange, nor eye-catching in her way of behaving, praying, and relating with others. She lived the normality of life in an extraordinary way. Those who approached her discovered little by little the richness of her inner life. Her circular letters reveal a personality enlightened by a deep spirit of faith, endowed with evangelical prudence in assessing situations and exquisite charity in her relations with her sisters. One can detect in her an unquestioning loyalty to the Church and a vivid missionary sense. She proved to be a woman of great faith, particularly when making courageous choices by genuinely trusting in the Lord. She used to manifest a confident and total surrender to the will of God ‘who knows,’ with an attitude of humble and trusting faith…”.
