On Sunday, July 14th, 2024, the Holy Mass was a solemn and joyful one, for during the celebration eight Indonesian novices made their first religious profession. The Mass was attended by 13 Xaverian fathers, Xaverian students, parents, and relatives of the new professed, as well as some friends and benefactors. Among the 13 fathers was also Fr. Sandro Peccati, who encouraged the newly professed by saying: “Look, I am 90 and still live faithfully my Xaverian vocation. You too must all be faithful to the end.”
The celebration was presided over by Fr. Paulus Yohanes Dharmawan Adharius, Regional Superior of Indonesia. In his homily, he invited the newly professed to live out the vows according to the teachings our founder, St Guido Maria Conforti, left to us in his Testament Letter No. 2: “The religious vows bind us more and more to divine service; they are a total emancipation from Satan, from the world and from the flesh; they are a continuous aspiring to ever better things; they are a kind of martyrdom which, if it lacks the intensity of the supreme agony, is compensated by a life-long gift of self. Therefore they increase our merits.” Moreover, the Regional Superior highlighted the thoughts of Saints Anselm, Saint Alphonsus, and Saint Thomas Aquinas, whom the Founder quotes in his Testament Letter: “The man who is not bound by vows can be compared to one who offers the fruit of a plant, whilst the man who takes vows offers both the fruit and the plant. […] Religious profession is akin to a second baptism because it is the beginning of a new life.”
Before concluding the celebration, the Master of Novices, Fr. Yakobus Sriyatmoko, symbolically entrusted these eight newly professed to their future formators during philosophical studies, that is, to Frs. Anton Wahyudiyanto, Sadono Agung Widodo and Ciroi Rodolfo. Then, one of the newly professed thanked all those involved in their formation and in leading them to the first profession. The celebration ended with a song, which the eight new confreres sang together, and with a fraternal agape. (Fr. Yakobus Sriyatmoko s.x.)
Domenica 14 luglio 2024 è stata celebrata solennemente e gioiosamente l’Eucaristia per la prima professione religiosa e missionaria di 8 novizi indonesiani nella quale erano presenti 13 padri Saveriani, studenti, genitori e parenti dei nuovi professi, alcuni amici e benefattori. Tra i 13 padri Saveriani presenti, c’era anche p. Sandro Peccati, il quale incoraggiando i nuovi professi, ha detto “Guardate, ho 90 anni e sono ancora fedele a vivere la mia vocazione saveriana. Voi tutti dovete essere fedeli fino alla fine”.
La celebrazione è stata presieduta da p. Paulus Yohanes Dharmawan Adharius, regionale dell’Indonesia, il quale nella sua omelia ha invitato i nuovi professi a vivere i voti secondo quanto ci ha ereditato il nostro fondatore, San Guido Maria Conforti, come è stato scritto nella lettera testamento n. 2: “I voti religiosi sono vincoli santi che vieppiù ci stringono al divin servizio; sono una totale emancipazione dal Demonio, dal mondo e dalla carne; sono una continua aspirazione a cose sempre migliori; sono come una specie di martirio, a cui, se manca l'intensità dello spasimo, supplisce la continuità di tutta la vita. Per questo essi accrescono il merito delle azioni nostre”. Il Regionale ha sottolineato anche i pensieri dei santi Anselmo, Alfonso e Tommaso d’Acquino, citatidal Fondatore nella sua Lettera Testamento “Chi compie un'opera senza voto può paragonarsi a colui che offre il frutto di una pianta, mentre chi opera con voto, offre assieme al frutto la pianta stessa”; “la professione dei voti religiosi equivale in certo qual modo ad un secondo Battesimo, perché inizio di una nuova vita”.
Prima di concludere la celebrazione il maestro dei novizi, p. Yakobus Sriyatmoko, ha affidato/consegnato simbolicamente questi 8 nuovi professi ai loro futuri formatori della filosofia, cioè ai pp. Anton Wahyudiyanto, Sadono Agung Widodo e Ciroi Rodolfo. Uno dei neo-professi, poi, ha ringraziato quanti li hanno preparati e guidati fino alla prima professione. La celebrazione è terminata con una canzone eseguita insieme dagli otto nuovi confratelli seguita dall’agape fraterna. (p. Yakobus Sriyatmoko, sx)
