Giovedì 28 novembre 2024, memoria liturgica dei beati Martiri della Fraternità, il vescovo di Bergamo, Mons. Francesco Beschi, ha presieduto l’Eucaristia in rendimento di grazie della Diocesi di Bergamo per la beatificazione dei martiri nella chiesa parrocchiale di Cornale, paese natale del Beato Luigi Carrara. Alla celebrazione Eucaristica hanno partecipato una trentina di sacerdoti, tra loro il Vicario Generale, Mons. Davide Pelucchi, e sei Saveriani, diaconi e seminaristi del seminario maggiore, varie religiose, tra cui la Missionaria di Maria - Saveriana Teresina Caffi, originaria di Pradalunga, il fratello di p. Luigi, Leone Carrara, con molti familiari e una numerosa assemblea. Il vescovo, nella sua omelia, ha sottolineato la bellezza di una vita donata per la fraternità: “la vita del martire non viene strappata dal suo 'carnefice', ma è il martire stesso a donarla, e il P. Luigi l’ha donata mettendosi in ginocchio davanti a fratel Vittorio Faccin appena ucciso; ha pregato anche perché ci siano ancora vocazioni missionarie in Italia, anche Saveriane". Dopo l’Eucaristia, ancora in chiesa, Giovanni Soldani, accompagnato all’organo da Francesco Maffeis, ha letto una bella e toccante sintesi della vita del Beato (Beato Luigi Carrara, Martire della Speranza, lettura teatrale). Subito dopo, in corteo, accompagnati dalla banda musicale del paese, il vescovo, con i sacerdoti, i sindaci della zona e tutta la gente si sono recati all’oratorio dove la comunità di Cornale ha offerto un’apericena a tutti. On Thursday, November 28^th, 2024, liturgical memorial of the Blessed Martyrs of Fraternity, Mgr Francesco Beschi, Bishop of Bergamo, Italy, presided over the Eucharist in thanksgiving of the Diocese of Bergamo for the beatification of the martyrs in the parish church of Cornale (Bergamo), the birthplace of Blessed Luigi Carrara. The Eucharistic celebration was attended by some thirty priests, among them the Vicar General, Mgr Davide Pelucchi, and six Xaverian missionaries, deacons and seminarians from the Major Seminary, several religious sisters, including the Missionary of Mary - Xaverian Teresina Caffi, originally from Pradalunga, Fr Luigi's brother, Leone Carrara, with many family members and a large assembly. In his homily, the bishop emphasized the beauty of a life given for the sake of fraternity: ‘the life of the martyr is not snatched by his 'executioner', but it is the martyr himself who offers it, and Fr. Luigi gave it by kneeling before Brother Vittorio Faccin who had just been killed; he also prayed that there may still be missionary vocations in Italy, including Xaverian ones".

After the Eucharist, still in the church, Giovanni Soldani, accompanied on the organ by Francesco Maffeis, read a beautiful and touching summary of the Blessed's life (Blessed Luigi Carrara, Martyr of Hope, theatrical reading). Immediately afterwards, in a procession, accompanied by the village band, the bishop, with the priests, the mayors of the area and all the people went to the oratory where the Cornale community offered an aperitif to all.
