I cicli temporali cinesi sono un po’ complicati. La combinazione di 10 Tiangan (天干, tronchi (o steli, o bastoncelli) celesti) e 12 Dizhi (地支, rami terrestri) dà origine a un ciclo di 60 anni con cui i Cinesi hanno dato il nome a giorni, anni, mesi ed ore. I 12 Dizhi poi, per l’influenza della astrologia persiana attraverso il Tibet, sono stati associati alla famosa serie di 12 animali dello zodiaco cinese.

Gli oroscopi, si basano sugli "otto caratteri" (八字, bāzì), ottenuti dalle quattro coppie “tronco celeste” – “ramo terrestre” dell’anno, mese, giorno e ora di nascita di una persona.

L’anno che comincerà con la luna nuova di gennaio 2023, domenica 22, si chiamerà Anno 癸卯 (guǐmǎo)  [in giapponese: kibō(きぼう)/mizunoto-u] e sarà un anno Yin (non Yang), associato agli elementi Acqua e Legno; il suo animale sarà il Coniglio.

Come sono le persone nate nell’anno del coniglio? Cosa ci si aspetta in quest’anno? La risposta più sicura la troveremo non osservando “giorni, mesi, stagioni e anni”, ma nella voce dello Spirito Santo che parla nel cuore di ciascuno di noi. (Fabrizio Tosolini sx)

Chinese time cycles are a bit complicated. The combination of 10 Tiangan (天干, heavenly stems) and 12 Dizhi (地支, earthly branches) originates a 60-year cycle by which the Chinese name days, years, months, and hours. The 12 Dizhi then, due to the influence of Persian astrology through Tibet, were associated with the famous series of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. Horoscopes are based on the “eight characters” (八字, bāzì), obtained from the four pairs of “heavenly stems” – “earthly branches” of the year, month, day and hour of a person’s birth.

The year that will begin with the new moon of January 2023, Sunday 22^nd , will be called 癸卯 Guǐmǎo Year [in Japanese: kibō(きぼう)/mizunoto-u] ; it will be a Yin (not Yang) year, associated with the elements “Water” and “Wood”; the animal of this year will be the Rabbit.

Which kind of people are those born in the year of the rabbit? What can we expect from this year? We will find the surest answer not by observing “days, months, seasons and years,” but in the voice of the Holy Spirit who speaks in the heart of each one of us. (Fabrizio Tosolini s.x.)
