“…celebro in anticipo questo mio 45° anniversario di missione in Bangladesh e voglio innalzare con voi un canto di lode al Signore per il bene che si è degnato di operare attraverso di me ed una invocazione di misericordia per i miei tanti limiti che hanno impedito alla sua grazia di operare pienamente il mistero della salvezza. In marcia verso i miei 83 anni di età, pensieri di eternità si affacciano sempre più frequenti alla mente: vivere intensamente il presente diventa gioiosa attesa per l’incontro con l’Amen! Ripercorro velocemente gli anni della mia missione per tentare un bilancio e ripormi in atteggiamento di ascolto verso questa realtà per una risposta di fede adeguata al momento storico-esistenziale che sto vivendo. “… I anticipate the celebration of my 45-year anniversary of mission in Bangladesh. Together with you, I would like to raise a song of praise to the Lord for the good He graciously made through me and invoke His mercy on my many limits, which have hindered His grace from bringing about the mystery of salvation to the full. I’m steadily walking towards my 83 years and thoughts about eternity pass through my mind more and more frequently: to live the present with intensity becomes a joyful waiting for the encounter with the Amen! I quickly review the years I spent in mission to make an assessment and place myself once again in an attitude of listening to this reality so as to give an answer out of faith – an answer that is appropriate for the historical and existential moment I am going through. I have discovered that there is a constant element connecting all events in my faith adventure: it is enthusiasm for the mission, which is always full of twists and turns, and new challenges.
