“Nello Stato del Parà, la pandemia provocata dal Covid-19 sta colpendo particolarmente la città di Belém e, in questi ultimi giorni, il numero dei contagiati sta crescendo in modo esponenziale; anche i decessi crescono. I confratelli delle comunità saveriane di Belém – Casa Regionale, Parrocchia di san Francesco Saverio e la casa di formazione di Ananindeua – stanno bene e osservano le misure restrittive stabilite dal governo e dalla Chiesa per proteggersi dal contagio: isolamento in casa, distanza sociale, uso della mascherina e disinfettanti ed evitare assembramenti. «Noi stiamo tutti bene e ci teniamo in contatto con messaggi e video quasi ogni giorno. Questa nuova situazione sfida anche a mantenere lo spirito della comunità senza poter stare fisicamente insieme; che il Signore ci aiuti a supplire la mancanza di vicinanza fisica con la qualità della nostra vita e delle nostre relazioni. Dopo quasi quattro mesi, le scuole si preparano a riaprire, ma rimane molta incertezza. Le imprese hanno ripreso il lavoro come pure le attività commerciali; tuttavia, l'economia fa molta fatica a riprendere e molti sono preoccupati».

“In the State of Parà, the pandemic caused by the Covid-19 is particularly affecting the city of Belèm. In recent days, the number of infected people is growing exponentially; deaths are also increasing. The Confreres of the Xaverian Communities of Belèm-Regional House, Parish of St. Francis Xavier and Formation House of Ananindeua are all well and observe the restrictive measures established by the government and by the Church to protect themselves from contagion: isolation in the house, social distance, use of mask and disinfectants and avoid assembly. “We are all well and we keep in touch with messages and videos almost every day. This new situation also challenges us to maintain the spirit of community without being able to physically be together. May the Lord help us to make up for the lack of physical closeness through a greater quality of our lives and of our relationships. After almost four months, schools are preparing o reopen, but much uncertainty remains. Businesses have resumed work as well as commercial activities. However, the economy is struggling in its effort to recover and we are all concerned.”
