Domenica 27 ottobre, l’ex confratello Eugenio Melandri è morto all’ospedale di Ravenna dove si trovava ricoverato da alcuni giorni per l’aggravarsi della patologia di cui soffriva. Aveva 71 anni. Solo una settimana prima, domenica 20 ottobre a S. Pietro in Vincoli, come ci ha comunicato Mons. Giorgio Biguzzi, Eugenio Melandri aveva celebrato la "Prima" Messa dopo un intervallo di circa 30 anni. “Erano presenti più di cento persone: sacerdoti, parenti e amici di Eugenio, più alcuni confratelli da altre comunità saveriane. E' stato un momento commovente. Eugenio ha ringraziato il Signore e tutti i saveriani per averlo nuovamente accolto come un fratello anche se era uscito dalla congregazione. Molti laici hanno espresso apprezzamento per la decisione di Eugenio e per l'accoglienza fraterna dei confratelli. ‘Abbiamo conosciuto i saveriani e abbiamo visto il volto amorevole della Chiesa’".

I funerali di Eugenio Melandri si sono svolti martedì 29 ottobre nella Chiesa della comunità saveriana di San Pietro in Vincoli con la partecipazione di molte persone.

On Sunday, October 27^th – 2019, our ex confrere Eugenio Melandri died, while in the Hospital of Ravenna, where he had been for a while, trying to recover from the serious sickness which had afflicted him.  Melandri was 71 years old.

Mons. George Biguzzi told us that, on the previous Sunday, had celebrated his “First’  Mass after an interval of thirty years.  “Over a hundred and fifty persons were present: priests, relatives and close friends of Eugenio. Also a good number of Xaverians were present from the various Xaverian Communities.  It was moving experience for all.  Eugenio praised God and thanked the Xaverian Family for the brotherhood and the generous affection he had perceived.  Many of the laity expressed their appreciation for Eugenio’s decision and for the brotherly embrace manifested by all the confreres.  “We have known the Xaverians  and we have seen the loving face of the Church’”.

The Funeral Services were celebrated on Tuesday, November 29^th – 2019, in the church of our Community of St. Peter in Vincoli with the participation of many persons.   May Eugenio Melandri rest in peace!
