  • La risonanza di questa settimana è scritta dal nostro confratello Simon sx. Il titolo della sua riflessione – scritta in mandarino - è 從理想到實踐 (Cóng lǐxiǎng dào shíjiàn): “Dall’ideale alla vita concreta”. In questi mesi estivi, Simon sx insieme ad altri compagni di vocazione sta studiando il Tagalog, la lingua ufficiale delle Filippine. In agosto inizierà il secondo anno di Teologia. La sua riflessione sulla Lettera Testamento mostra come egli abbia trovato una via esigente, ma sicura e serena nel vivere il voto di obbedienza, a partire anche da alcuni limiti culturali: “Forse a motivo della mia cultura e della mia formazione di fondo, possiedo una concezione molto diretta e rigida del voto di obbedienza, per cui mai mi sarei aspettato di poter avere un rapporto stretto con i miei formatori. Solitamente le persone in autorità sono coloro che danno ordini e che noi dobbiamo ascoltare ed eseguire. Nella LT il Fondatore elenca alcune cose che mi hanno sorpreso. Egli scrive che qualora qualcuno abbia tenuto la suprema direzione della Congregazione, anche se per lungo tempo, egli si debba ugualmente considerare “servo inutile del Signore” e non pretendere alcuna esenzione o privilegio per i servizi prestati (LT 6). Al principio, quelle parole mi hanno fortemente colpito perché le trovai giuste e in sintonia con i valori del Vangelo.   • Presentiamo il prezioso contributo di un non Saveriano nella comprensione della Lettera Testamento: “La vita apostolica congiunta alla vita religiosa”. Questo piccolo e pregiato libro raccoglie le meditazioni guidate dal missionario Clarettiano P. Maurizio Bevilacqua durante i ritiri mensili delle comunità saveriane del Collegio Internazionale Mons. Conforti e la Casa Generalizia a Roma. Il tema delle giornate di ritiro è stato la Lettera Testamento nell’Anno Giubilare 2020–2021. Per 5 mesi — ogni secondo sabato — ci siamo trovati insieme per l’ascolto della riflessione sul “Testamento del Padre”, seguita da un tempo di silenzio e orazione personale, per ritrovarci poi insieme all’Eucaristia presieduta dallo stesso predicatore, dove ciascuno condivideva i frutti dell’ascolto e della preghiera. Il pranzo, consumato insieme, coronava la giornata con gratitudine al Signore per il dono di quel “venite in disparte, in un luogo solitario, e riposatevi un poco”.   • I confratelli di Dondo hanno celebrato la conclusione dell'Anno Giubilare a Dondo, venerdì 2 luglio. Mentre le tre comunità del nord si sono riunite a Sena, a 500 km di distanza, il giorno successivo. In entrambe le circostanze hanno partecipato i laici del Gamix, un gruppo degli amici dei Missionari Saveriani che si è costituito in questi ultimi tre anni e che, poco alla volta, sta crescendo sia in numero che in spirito di appartenenza. JUBILEE YEAR

  • This week’s resonance is written by our confrere, Simon. The title of his reflection is: “From Ideal to Practice” (in Mandarin: Cóng lǐxiǎng dào shíjiàn《從理想到實踐》). During these summer months, Simon, together with other Xaverian companions, is studying Tagalog, the official language of the Philippines. In August, he will begin the second year of Theology. His reflection on the Testament Letter shows that Simon has found a demanding, yet safe and serene way of living the vow of obedience, in consideration also of certain cultural limits: Maybe because of my culture and formation background, I possess a very straightforward and rigid concept of the vow of obedience, and I have never expected that I would have a close relationship with my Authorities are usually the ones giving orders, while we have to obey and act. Yet, when it comes to the vow of obedience, the Founder has listed something that astonishes me. He wrote that even if someone has held the highest office of authority in the Congregation, even for a lengthy time, he should still acknowledge that “he is an unprofitable servant of the Lord” and make no exemptions or privileges in return for services rendered (TL#6). At the beginning, those words strongly attracted me because I believed that they were right, belonging to the values of the Gospel; unfortunately, rarely did I see the actualization of these words in my cultural context. …Click here: From Ideal to Practice
  • We present the precious contribution of a non-Xaverian in the understanding of the Testament Letter: “Apostolic Life Combined with Religious Life”. This small and valuable book collects the meditations led by the Claretian Missionary Fr. Bevilacqua during the monthly retreats of the Xaverian communities in Rome, that is, the “Mons. Conforti” International Xaverian College and the General Direction House. The theme for the days of retreat was the Testament Letter in the Jubilee Year 2020-2021. On the second Saturday of the month for five months, we gathered to listen to Fr. Bevilaqua’s reflection on “The Testament Letter of the Father”, that was followed by a time of silence and personal prayer. Then we would meet together for the Eucharist, presided over by the preacher himself, during which everyone shared the fruits of listening and prayer. A common lunch crowned the day with gratitude to the Lord for the gift of that “come away a little, to a lonely place, and rest a little”. Click here: La vita apostolica nella Lettera Testamento

  • The Xaverian Confreres of Dondo celebrated the end of the Jubilee Year in Dondo on Friday, July 2nd – 2021, while the three northern Communities gathered in Sena, 500 Km away, the following day. In both events, the laity of Gamix participated. This is a group of friends of the Xaverian Missionaries that has been formed in the last three years and, little by little, is growing both in numbers and in the spirit of belonging.  (Fr.
