Carissimi consacrati e consacrate, quello che temevamo è accaduto: la guerra è tornata, ancora una volta, sulle strade e tra la gente; è tornata in un continente che sembrava avesse imparato dalle atrocità del passato; è tornata portando con sé il rischio di un nuovo conflitto mondiale. E' tornata e a riportato davanti ai nostri occhi il dramma che vivono milioni di persone in altre parti del mondo….

Alla scuola di tanti santi fondatori e fondatrici, di tanti consacrati e consacrate, crediamo nella forza della preghiera, perché "si deve pregare sempre, anche quando tutto sembra vano, quando Dio ci appare sordo e muto e ci pare di perdere tempo. Anche se il cielo si offusca" (Papa Francesco, udienza generale, 11 novembre 2020).

Preghiamo perché cessi la guerra, perché non vinca un'economia che uccide, perché l'amore sostituisca l'odio, la solidarietà l'indifferenza, perché il dialogo sia più forte delle armi…. Dear consecrated men and women, what we feared has happened:  war  has  returned,  once  again,  on  the  streets  and  among  the people;  it  has  returned  to  a  continent  that  seemed  to  have  learned  from  the  atrocities  of  the  past;  it has  returned  bringing  with  it  the  risk  of  a  new  world  conflict.  It  has  returned  and  brought  before  our eyes the drama that millions of people in other parts of the world are living…

In the school of so many holy founders and foundresses,  of  so  many  consecrated  men  and women, we believe in the power of prayer, because "one must always pray, even when everything seems vain, when God seems deaf and dumb to us and we seem to be wasting time. Even if the sky is clouded" (Pope Francis, General Audience, 11 November 2020).
