“Condividete con mitezza la speranza che sta nei vostri cuori” (cfr. 1Pt 3, 15-16) è il tema del messaggio di Papa Francesco per la LIX Giornata Mondiale delle Comunicazioni Sociali che in molti Paesi si celebrerà il prossimo 1° giugno. Il messaggio è stato presentato venerdì 24 gennaio, memoria di san Francesco di Sales, patrono della stampa.

Il messaggio suggerisce ai comunicatori di 1) “essere miti e non dimenticare mai il volto dell’altro”; 2) di “seminare sempre speranza, anche quando è difficile, anche quando costa”; 3) di “praticare una comunicazione che sappia risanare le ferite della nostra umanità”. Centrale è 4) lo spazio da dare alla “fiducia del cuore”, un “fiore esile ma resistente” che sboccia e cresce nelle madri di figli al fronte, nei padri migranti in cerca di un futuro migliore, nei bambini che riescono a “giocare, sorridere e credere nella vita anche fra le macerie delle guerre” e della povertà…

“Share with gentleness the hope that is in your hearts” (cf. 1 Pet 3:15-16) is the theme of Pope Francis’ message for the 59^th World Day of Social Communication which many countries will celebrate on June 1^st. The message was presented on Friday, January 24^th, memorial of St Francis of Sales, patron of the press.

In this message, the Pope urges communicators 1) to “be meek and never forget the faces of other people;” 2) to “always spread hope, even when it is difficult, even when it costs;” 3) to “promote a communication that can heal the wounds of our humanity.”  Central to the message is 4) the call to make room for “the heartfelt trust that, like a slender but resistant flower,” blossoms and grows in the those mothers whose children are in the trenches of a conflict, in those fathers who emigrate in search of a better future, in those children who somehow manage to play, laugh and believe in life even amid the debris of war and in poverty.
