“…San Paolo, ci dona un messaggio di grande incoraggiamento: “La speranza non delude” (Rm 5,5), anzi, ci rende forti nella tribolazione…

…Fermiamoci allora un momento a riflettere sulla presenza di Dio vicino a chi soffre, in particolare sotto tre aspetti che la caratterizzano: l’incontro, il dono e la condivisione…

…Cari malati, cari fratelli e sorelle che prestate la vostra assistenza ai sofferenti, in questo Giubileo voi avete più che mai un ruolo speciale. Il vostro camminare insieme, infatti, è un segno per tutti, “un inno alla dignità umana, un canto di speranza”, la cui voce va ben oltre le stanze e i letti dei luoghi di cura in cui vi trovate, stimolando e incoraggiando nella carità “la coralità della società intera”, in una armonia a volte difficile da realizzare, ma proprio per questo dolcissima e forte, capace di portare luce e calore là dove più ce n’è bisogno…”

…Let us stop for a moment to reflect on how God remains close to those who are suffering in three particular ways: through encounter, gift and sharing…

“…dear brothers and sisters who are ill or who care for the suffering, in this Jubilee you play an especially important part. Your journey together is a sign for everyone: “a hymn to human dignity, a song of hope”. Its strains are heard far beyond the rooms and beds of health facilities, and serve to elicit in charity “the choral participation of society as a whole” in a harmony that is at times difficult to achieve, but for that very reason is so comforting and powerful, capable of bringing light and warmth wherever they are most needed…
