“Esiste un mito del popolo Kayapó che spiega come sono nate le varie lingue e le popolazioni indigene. Non lo racconterò tutto qui, ma ne condividerò un brevissimo riassunto. Un topolino rivela a un'anziana donna Kayapó il luogo dove si trovava un albero che produceva molti tipi di mais. L'anziana donna lo disse al villaggio. Il villaggio andò a vedere il posto e, dopo tanta fatica, riuscirono a tagliare l'albero. Ognuno prese un tipo di pannocchia e se ne andò. Da lì nacquero tutti i popoli indigeni di queste terre, con tutte le loro lingue.

Noi, i pp. Felipe de Jesús López Orozco, David Peguero Pérez, Juan Juárez García, José Ignacio Martínez González, il sottoscritto, p. Pedro Saúl Ruiz Álvarez, e diversi confratelli qui presenti, abbiamo vissuto insieme nel noviziato di Salamanca, negli anni di Filosofia e Teologia a Guadalajara e a Città del Messico. Ci siamo uniti allo stesso albero della Famiglia Saveriana. Dopo l'ordinazione sacerdotale ci siamo sparpagliati, ognuno con la propria pannocchia di mais e abbiamo imparato lingue diverse...” .  (Pedro Saúl Ruiz Álvarez sx)

“The Kayapó people have a myth that explains how the various indigenous languages and peoples were born. I will not recount it in its entirety here, but will give a brief summary. A mouse revealed to an elderly Kayapó woman the place where there was a tree that produced many types of corn. The elderly woman told the location to the village. The villagers went to see the place and, after much effort, were able to cut down the tree. Everyone took one type of corn cob and left. From there came all the indigenous peoples of these lands, with all their languages.

We, Frs. Felipe de Jesús López Orozco, David Peguero Pérez, Juan Juárez García, José Ignacio Martínez González, myself the undersigned, Fr. Pedro Saúl Ruiz Álvarez, and various confreres here present, lived together during the Novitiate in Salamanca, and during the years of philosophy and theology training in Guadalajara and Mexico City. We joined the same tree of the Xaverian Family.
