PRIMA ASSEMBLEA ECCLESIALE DELL’AMERICA LATINA E DEI CARAIBI
Il nostro confratello p. Rafael López Villaseñor sx è il delegato (on line) della CRB (Conferenza dei Religiosi del Brasile) per Assemblea Ecclesiale dell’America Latina e dei Caraibi che si tiene a Città del Messico, dal 21 al 28 novembre 2021, presso la Basilica di Guadalupe: “Discípulos Misioneros en salida” (Discepoli missionari in uscita). La Chiesa che vive nel continente latino-americano e i Caraibi, si ritrova insieme con 100 delegati in presenza e 1000 on line. Il gruppo dei Delegati e delle Delegate è così formato: 20% è composto da vescovi, 20% da presbiteri e diaconi, 20% da religiosi e religiose, e 40% da fedeli laici e laiche (200 vescovi, 400 sacerdoti e religiosi-e, e 400 laici).
Si tratta della prima Assemblea ecclesiale dell’America Latina e dei Caraibi: “un evento storico per la partecipazione dell’intero Popolo di Dio”.
La proposta di convocare un’assemblea Ecclesiale è nata al momento di consultare la comunità ecclesiale sulla fattibilità di una VI Conferenza del CELAM (Consejo Episcopal Latino-Americano). A questo proposito, Papa Francesco aveva suggerito di percorrere nuove strade, vale a dire che l’Assemblea non fosse solamente la riunione di vescovi, ma anche dei rappresentati di tutti i settori che formano “il popolo santo di Dio”.
Tra gli obbiettivi dell’incontro c’è anche quello di ravvivare la memoria della V Conferenza del CELAM, ad Aparecida, Brasile, svoltasi nel 2007 e da cui “abbiamo ancora molto da imparare”.
FIRST ECCLESIAL ASSEMBLY OF LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN
Our confrere Fr. Rafael López Villaseñor s.x. is the CRB’s (Conference of Religious of Brazil) delegate (on-line) to the Ecclesial Assembly of Latin America and the Caribbean that will be held in Mexico City from November 21st to 28th 2021, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Basílica de Guadalupe). Theme of the conference is: “Discípulos Misioneros en salida” (Missionary Disciples going forth). On this occasion, 100 delegates of the Church living in the Latin-American continent and the Caribbean will meet in-person while 1000 will attend on-line. The group of delegates is composed of bishops 20%, priests and deacons 20%, religious men and women 20%, and lay faithful 40% (i.e., 200 bishops, 400 priests and religious, and 400 lay faithful).
This is the First Ecclesial Assembly of Latin America and the Caribbean: “a historical event, given the participation of the entire people of God.”
The proposal to summon an ecclesial assembly arose when the ecclesial community was consulted on the feasibility of holding the 6th Conference of CELAM (Latin American Bishop Council). At that time, Pope Francis suggested trying new ways, meaning that the Assembly should not only consist in the meeting of bishops, but also of representatives from all sections of “God’s holy people.”
One of the aims of the meeting includes that of keeping alive the memory of the 5th Conference of CELAM, that took place in 2007 in Aparecida, Brazil, and from which “much remains to be learned”.
