Domenica 26 ottobre, nella parrocchia di Nostra Signora del Rosario a Brixton, l'Unione Missionaria Cattolica (Catholic Missionary Union or CMU) ha celebrato il suo Giubileo d’Argento. Negli ultimi 25 anni, la CMU ha organizzato Giornate Missionarie in Inghilterra e Galles, contribuendo alla animazione sul carisma missionario della Chiesa universale e aiutando il clero e i religiosi provenienti da diverse parti del mondo ad inculturarsi nella nostra Chiesa.
La CMU si è unita ai parrocchiani per la celebrazione domenicale di mezzogiorno. P. Tony Chantry m.h.m. (direttore nazionale di Missio in Inghilterra e Galles) ha presieduto la celebrazione, mentre p. Ugo Igwuka c.s.s.p. (provinciale degli Spiritani) ha riflettuto sulla missione della Chiesa in Inghilterra e Galles e sul ruolo della CMU nell’animare la missione della Chiesa.
La CMU rappresenta oltre 40 congregazioni missionarie e organizzazioni laicali impegnate nella missione della Chiesa sia in Inghilterra e Galles che in tutto il mondo. Molte di queste congregazioni erano presenti alla celebrazione e hanno allestito esposizioni e fornito informazioni nella sala parrocchiale dopo la messa. Le esposizioni missionarie sono state accompagnate da cibi tradizionali provenienti da diverse parti del mondo e dall’opportunità di condividere storie ed esperienze di vita missionaria, sia qui in Inghilterra e Galles che in diverse parti del mondo!

(Suore del Cuore Immacolato di Maria), desiderano ringraziare: i membri del coro della parrocchia di Nostra Signora del Rosario per aver aperto le porte alla CMU e aver creato una celebrazione gioiosa e ricca di spirito; P. Mark Ehichioya Odion m.s.p. per aver messo a disposizione la sala parrocchiale per la mostra missionaria; Richard Owens e il resto della segreteria della CMU per l’aiuto esperto nell’organizzazione; e i numerosi membri della CMU che hanno partecipato a questo momento di celebrazione nella vita missionaria della Chiesa.

On Sunday October 26th at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Brixton, the Catholic Missionary Union (CMU) celebrated its Silver Jubilee. For the past 25 years, the CMU has organised Mission Appeals in England and Wales, help raise awareness of the Missionary Charism of the Universal Church and helped clergy and religious from different parts of the world inculturate in our Church.
The CMU joined the parishioners for their midday Sunday celebration. Fr. Tony Chantry MHM (who is the National Director of Missio in England and Wales) was the main celebrant, with Fr. Ugo Igwuka CSSP (provincial of the Spiritans) reflecting on the mission of the Church in England and Wales and the place of the CMU in promoting the mission of the Church.
The CMU represents over 40 missionary congregations and lay organisations who are involved in the Mission on the Church both in England and Wales and throughout the world. Many of these congregations were present for this celebration and had displays and information in the Parish Hall after mass. The Missionary Displays were complemented with traditional foods from different parts of the world and an opportunity to share stories and experiences of being a missionary, both here in England and Wales and in different parts of the world!
Co-Chairs Fr. Patrick Duffy, s.x. and Sr. Mary Sebastian IHM (Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary) would like to thank the people of Choir of Our Lady of the Rosay Parish for opening their doors to the CMU and creating a joyful and spirit filled celebration, Fr. Mark Ehichioya Odion MSP for offering the parish hall for the Missionary Display, Richard Owens and the rest of the CMU Secretariate for their organisational skills and the many members of the CMU who were present for this celebration of the Missionary Life of the Church.
