La Festa della Presentazione del Signore è stata celebrata presso la Parrocchia dell’Addolorata a Mulongwe, Uvira. Le attività a cui abbiamo partecipato sono iniziate con la presentazione dei membri e del carisma di ciascuna delle 14 congregazioni maschili e femminili che lavorano nella diocesi di Uvira.
Il nostro confratello, p. Justin Muchapa Tunguli s.x., proveniente dalla parrocchia di Luvungi, è stato il principale oratore. Egli ha sviluppato il tema della Sinodalità, sottolineando i temi della “partecipazione” e “appartenenza”, “responsabilità” e “corresponsabilità”. Dopo la sua conferenza, i partecipanti, sia persone consacrate che sacerdoti locali, hanno riflettuto su quali azioni concrete possano essere prese congiuntamente all’interno della diocesi per evidenziare il nostro camminare insieme come Chiesa.
Mons. Sébastien Muyengo Mulombe, che celebrava il decimo anniversario della sua elezione a vescovo di Uvira, ha presieduto l’Eucarestia. Egli ha innanzitutto ringraziato le persone consacrate per la loro presenza e lavoro nella sua diocesi. Poi ha ricordato che sebbene questo giorno sia dedicato alle persone consacrate, nella diocesi è sempre celebrato insieme al clero e laici locali quale segno di comunione: “essere una persona consacrata significa cercare la santità come Simeone, che è stato un uomo giusto; egli ha vissuto una vita di preghiera e rettitudine; essere persone consacrate significa sapere aspettare ed essere pazienti, aspettare Dio in fedeltà che è per se stessa un segno di speranza. E la speranza fa vivere più a lungo, come nel caso di Simeone e di Anna… essere una persona consacrata significa essere un segno di contraddizione nel mondo: quando le vite delle persone consacrate non provocano più interrogative, allora vuol dire che esse hanno perso la loro identità di segni di contraddizione per il mondo… ”
La celebrazione si è conclusa con un momento di agape fraterna e presentazioni culturali, tra cui una fatta dai nostri postulanti e incentrata sull’importanza della conversione nella vita consacrata. (Valentin Shukuru Bihaira s.x.)
The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord was celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Mulongwe, Uvira. The activities we took part in started with the presentation of the members and charism of the 14 congregations of religious men and women working in the diocese of Uvira.
The key-speaker was our confrere Fr. Justin Muchapa Tunguli s.x. from the parish of Luvungi. He developed the theme of Synodality, highlighting the topics of “participation” and “belonging”, “responsibility” and “co-responsibility”. Following his conference, participants, including both consecrated persons and local clergy, reflected on what kind of concrete actions could be taken together within the diocese to mark our common journey as Church.
Bishop Sébastien Muyengo Mulombe, who celebrates the 10th anniversary of his election as bishop of Uvira, presided over the Eucharist. Firstly, he thanked the consecrated persons for their presence and work in his diocese. Then, he noted that, although this day is dedicated to consecrated persons, in the diocese it is always celebrated together with local clergy and laity as a sign of communion: “to be a consecrated person is to seek holiness like Simeon who was a righteous man; he lived a life of prayer and righteousness; to be a consecrated person is to know how to wait and be patient; to wait for God in fidelity is a sign of hope, and hope makes one live longer, as in the case of Simeon and Hannah… To be a consecrated person is to be a sign of contradiction in the world: when the lives of consecrated persons do not raise questions any longer, it means that they have lost their identity as signs of contradiction in the world…”.
The celebration concluded with the sharing of food and cultural presentations, including one by our postulants about the importance of conversion in consecrated life. (Valentin Shukuru Bihaira sx)
