Sabato 11 aprile 2026, in Viale Vaticano 40, le due comunità Saveriane di Roma, si sono ritrovate per la consueta giornata di ritiro, animata dalla biblista Rosanna Virgili (sposa, mamma e nonna).  La meditazione si è concentrata sulle figure femminili nel Nuovo Testamento, prendendo in considerazione, in particolare, la prospettiva del Vangelo di Luca. Sin dall'inizio del Vangelo emergono due donne:  Elisabetta e Maria. Entrambe si inseriscono in un contesto storico segnato dalla presenza di Erode e del sacerdote Zaccaria. Quest’ ultimo, simbolo di un ministero incredulo e pertanto “muto”, all’interno del Tempio, è in contrapposizione con le preghiere e le attese del popolo, fuori dal Tempio. Dio “esce” (l’esodo di Dio) dal Tempio per dirigersi a Nazareth. La fede di Maria è il cuore aperto all’impossibile.

La celebrazione eucaristica, tempo dell’ascolto della Parola e della frazione del Pane, insieme alla condivisione personale di vari fratelli ha concluso la mattinata. È seguito il pranzo insieme. (Zacharie Tamejon sx) 

On Saturday, April 11^th, 2026, in Viale Vaticano 40, the two Xaverian communities in Rome came together for their usual day of retreat, led by the bible scholar Rosanna Virgili (a married woman, mother and grandmother). The meditation focused on female figures in the New Testament, paying particular attention to the perspective of the Gospel of Luke. Right from the start of the Gospel, two women emerge: Elizabeth and Mary. Both are set against a historical background marked by the presence of Herod and the priest Zechariah. The latter, symbol of a ministry that is incredulous and therefore ‘silent’ within the Temple, stands in contrast to the prayers and hopes of the people outside the Temple. God ‘goes out’ (God’s exodus) from the Temple and sets out for Nazareth. Mary’s faith is a heart open to the impossible.

The morning ended with the Eucharistic celebration, a time for listening to the Word and for the breaking of the bread, during which various brothers shared their personal reflections. The Mass was followed by lunch together. (Zacharie Tamejon sx)
