“ ‘Shomer mah millaylah?’ (Sentinella, quanto resta della notte?) mi gridano da Seir’. Così Isaia 21,11. Potremmo riscrivere: ‘Shomer mah midderek?’ Sentinella, quanto resta della strada? Quanta strada del cammino sinodale? “La Sentinella risponde: ‘Convertitevi, venite.’” Cioè: resta solo un passo, che è venire. A partire dalla, o meglio, nella Risurrezione di Gesù, tutta la storia si compone solo dell’ascesa verso di Lui, sul Monte Tabor, verso l’esperienza della sua gloria, verso l’essere trasfigurati in Lui. Non è la Chiesa che cammina nella storia, quello forse era l’Antico Testamento. Piuttosto, è la storia che cammina verso Gesù, sotto la potenza della Sua attrazione: “Quando sarò innalzato attirerò tutti a me”. Noi siamo i primi ad essere attirati, e lasciandoci attirare, insieme, diventiamo via verso di Lui. Sentinella, quanto resta della strada? (Fabrizio Tosolini sx)

“‘Shomer mahmillaylah?’ (Watchman, what is left of the night?)they shout to me from Seir”. So Isaiah 21:11. We could rewrite: ‘Shomer mahmidderek?’ Watchman, how much of the road? How much of the road of the synodal journey? ‘The Sentinel replied: ‘Repent, come’ ”. That is, only one step remains, a step that is not a going, but a coming. Starting from, or rather, in the Resurrection of Jesus, all of history consists only in the ascent towards Him, on Mount Tabor, towards the experience of His glory, towards being transfigured in Him. Not the Church walks in history. That maybe was the Old Testament. Rather, history it is that walks towards Jesus, under the power of His attraction. ‘When I am lifted up I will draw everyone to myself.’ We are the first to be attracted, and by letting ourselves be attracted, together, we become the way towards Him.
