SETTIMANA DI PREGHIERA PER L’UNITÀ DEI CRISTIANI 2027: “Non aver paura, piccolo gregge, perché il Padre vostro ha voluto darvi il suo regno”

Il messaggio della prossima Settimana di preghiera per l’unità dei cristiani ha come tema le parole di Gesù: “Non aver paura, piccolo gregge, perché il Padre vostro ha voluto darvi il suo regno” (Luca, 12,32). Le preghiere e le riflessioni giungono dall’Irlanda, come già avvenne per la Settimana di preghiera per l’unità dei cristiani di alcune edizioni passate (1983, 1994 e 2006). I sussidi sono nati dalla collaborazione del gruppo ecumenico locale con la commissione internazionale nominata congiuntamente dal Dicastero per la promozione dell’unità dei cristiani (Dpuc) e dalla Commissione Fede e costituzione del Consiglio ecumenico delle chiese (Wcc).
Il testo invita a riconoscere Gesù come nostro Buon Pastore e a confidare in Lui con abbandono totale, con tutto lo slancio del cuore.
Per ogni giorno dell’ottavario viene commentato un salmo e presentata una preghiera scritta dai grandi santi d’Irlanda. Ai fedeli che partecipano alla liturgia ecumenica, specialmente ai bambini e ai ragazzi, viene suggerito di dipingere delle croci di san Colombano da portare in processione tra i fedeli dopo l’omelia. Le croci poi saranno disposte insieme in modo da formare un’unica grande croce che sarà innalzata davanti a tutti.

THE WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY 2027: “Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
The title of the message for the next Week of Prayer for Christian Unity are the words of Jesus: “Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom” (Luke 12:32). Prayers and reflections for the week come from Ireland, as was the case in previous editions (1983, 1994 and 2006) of the Week of prayer for Christian unity. The resources were prepared by the local ecumenical group and the international commission jointly appointed by the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity and the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches. The text invites us to recognize Jesus as our Good Shepherd and to trust in Him with a total surrender of our hearts.
On each day of the week, there is a commentary on a psalm and the introduction of a prayer written by the great saints of Ireland. The faithful participating in the ecumenical liturgy – especially children and young people – are encouraged to paint St. Columbanus crosses to carry in a procession among the congregation after the homily.
The crosses will then be arranged together to form a single large cross, which will be raised in front of everyone.
