Dall'11 al 15 dicembre i PP. Mario C. Mula, Vicario Generale, Rosario Giannattasio, Sup. Regionale dell'Italia, Carlos Collantes Dìez, Sup. Delegato della Spagna, e il Dott. Paolo Volta, del Laicato saveriano dell'Italia, hanno visitato l'arcidiocesi di Tangeri, in Marocco, ricevuti dal Vescovo Mons. Santiago Agrelo Martìnez e dal Vicario Generale P. Simeòn Stachera, ambedue francescani. La visita era una risposta all'invito fatto dal XVII CG di vedere la possibilità di una nuova presenza dei Saveriani tra i musulmani. Ricevuti calorosamente, hanno avuto la possibilità di vedere direttamente alcune delle presenze attuali della Chiesa in questo vasto territorio del nord del Marocco.Territorio affidato a suo tempo ai Francescani ma che, nell'attualità, vede oltre a loro, altri Religiosi, e soprattutto Religiose e Volontari di Associazioni cattoliche europee e volontari in genere, prestare un grande servizio alle persone più vulnerabili e bisognose del paese. L'opera della Chiesa, molto apprezzata, è possibile anche con la partecipazione di moltissimi collaboratori locali, di religione musulmana, che fianco a fianco servono moltissime persone nel bisogno e nel disagio dell'emarginazione. La Chiesa dà accoglienza e risposta anche al fenomeno dei migranti che dai paesi del sud vogliono passare il Mediterraneo e attraversano il Marocco. La presenza della Chiesa è una presenza assolutamente di "gratuità" e di testimonianza: la legge del paese non permette nessun atto di proselitismo e quindi tutto lo "stare" lì ha il suo punto forte nella relazione cordiale e di amicizia con i fratelli dell'Islam. Uno spazio di servizio, di gratuità evangelica e di dialogo che potrebbe vedere presenti anche i Saveriani.

From December 11 – 15, Fr. Mario Mula, Vicar General, Fr. Rosario Giannatasio, Regional Superior of Italy, Fr. Carlos Collantes Diez, Delegate Superior of Spain, and Dr. Paolo Volta, from the Group Lay Xaverian Friends, visited the Archdiocese of Tangeri.  They were greeted by Bishop Mons. Santiago Martinez, and by the Vicar general Fr. Simeòn Stachera, both Franciscans.  This visit was a response to the invitation by the XVII GC to look into the possibility for a new Xaverian presence among Moslems.  They were received with great affection and they were given the chance to visit some of the various presences of the Church in this vast territory of North Morocco.  Way back, this territory was entrusted to the Franciscans. Now, among the Franciscans, there are other Religious Groups, especially Religious Sisters,  Catholic European Lay Volunteers Associations and Volunteers in general, who offer a great service to the most vulnerable and needy persons of the country. The work of the Church, most appreciated, is possible also for the participation of very many local collaborators, some of them affiliated with the Moslem Religion.  Together, hand in hand, work serving a great number of people who are needy and risk social outcasting.  The Church gives hospitality and responds to the phenomenon of migrants, who, from the countries of the South, want to cross the Mediterranean Sea while passing through Morocco territory. The presence of the Church is an absolutely gratuitous presence and a witnessing presence: the law of the country does not allow any act of proselytism.  The strength  of “Staying there” is all in the cordial and friendly relationship established with our brothers and sisters of Islam. A space of service, evangelical gratuitousness and dialogue could well see also the presence of the Xaverians.
