In occasione della recita del “Regina Caeli”, nella III Domenica di Pasqua (23.04.2023), papa Francesco, commentando il Vangelo dei discepoli di Emmaus, afferma che con la domanda “Che cosa?” rivolta ai due viandanti, il Signore Gesù vuole aiutare a “ri-leggere” i fatti in modo diverso, alla luce della Parola di Dio, di tutto quello che è stato annunciato al popolo di Israele.

“Ri-leggere”: è quello che Gesù fa con loro, aiutare a rileggere… Anche per noi, infatti, è importante rileggere la nostra storia insieme a Gesù: la storia della nostra vita, di un certo periodo, delle nostre giornate, con le delusioni e le speranze: una croce difficile da abbracciare, la scelta del perdono di fronte a un’offesa, una rivincita mancata, la fatica del lavoro, la sincerità che costa, le prove della vita familiare ci potranno apparire sotto una luce nuova, la luce del Crocifisso Risorto, che sa fare di ogni caduta un passo in avanti. Ma per fare questo è importante togliere le difese: lasciare tempo e spazio a Gesù, non nascondergli nulla, portargli le miserie, farsi ferire dalla sua verità, lasciare che il cuore vibri al soffio della sua Parola…”

Before the noon prayer of Regina Caeli on the III Easter Sunday (April 23^rd, 2023), commenting the Gospel passage about the disciples on the road to Emmaus, Pope Francis stated that through the question “What?” addressed to the two wayfarers, the Lord Jesus meant to help them “re-read” the events in a different manner, in the light of the Word of God, of all that was announced to the people of Israel.

“To re-read: that is what Jesus does with them, helping them to re-read… Indeed, for us too it is important to re-read our history together with Jesus: the story of our life, of a certain period, of our days, with its disappointments and hopes. …

a difficult cross to embrace, the decision to forgive an offence, a missed opportunity for redress, the toil of work, the sincerity that comes at a price, and the trials of family life can appear to us in a new light, the light of the Crucified and Risen, who knows how to turn every fall into a step forward. But in order to do this, it is important to drop our defences: to leave time and space for Jesus, not to hide anything from him, to bring him our miseries, to let ourselves be wounded by his truth, to let our heart vibrate at the breath of his Word…”
