Presentazione 

CARISSIMI CONFRATELLI, in questo numero di iSaveriani trovate il frutto della celebrazione del XVIII Capitolo generale (Bukavu 1 – 23 luglio 2023), che ha avuto come tema: Amare la nostra vocazione saveriana.

I documenti elaborati e approvati durante l’Assemblea capitolare descrivono il lavoro svolto, sia in preparazione che durante il Capitolo, seguendo la dinamica proposta dal Comitato preparatorio: Da dove veniamo, Dove siamo e Dove andiamo.

Ora è il momento di guardare avanti. I documenti capitolari sono come un faro sul nostro cammino. Invitiamo ogni saveriano ad accoglierli come segno di amore per la nostra Famiglia. Se pensiamo all’opera di Dio e alla sua realizzazione, troviamo due elementi inseparabili: la presenza attiva dello Spirito divino e la collaborazione umana. Ebbene, è grazie a questi due elementi che l’audace progetto saveriano raggiungerà i 128 anni di vita il prossimo 3 dicembre. Il desiderio che riempie i nostri cuori è quello di continuare a collaborare attivamente, qui e ora, alla realizzazione del carisma saveriano (cfr. C 1).

Siamo particolarmente grati ai nostri confratelli della Circoscrizione del Congo che, insieme alle Sorelle Saveriane, ai Laici Saveriani e agli amici, hanno aiutato a rendere possibile la celebrazione del XVIII Capitolo Generale. Grazie per la squisita e fraterna accoglienza e attenzione! Ci siamo sentiti a casa, come membri della stessa Famiglia saveriana.

Verso dove stiamo andando? Il Capitolo ha cercato di rispondere a questa domanda, dando alcune indicazioni circa il cammino che ci aspetta, ben consapevoli che solo il Signore sa verso dove stiamo andando. La nostra fiducia è in Lui e solo in Lui. È questo affidamento totale al Signore e alla sua Parola che ci permette di vivere ogni giorno con serenità, gioia e speranza (cfr. 2 Tim 1,11–12). Il cammino lo percorriamo uniti, come membra dello stesso corpo, aprendoci gli uni agli altri, sentendo il bisogno del confratello come compagno inseparabile del viaggio, dando il meglio di noi stessi affinché Gesù Cristo sia conosciuto e amato da coloro che ancora non lo conoscono né lo amano.

Continuiamo a camminare insieme, mano nella mano, con un cuore solo e un’anima sola (At 4,32).

«Loving our Xaverian vocation» Bukavu (D. R. Congo), 1 – 23 luglio 2023

Presentation

DEAR CONFRERES, in this issue of iSaveriani you will find the proceedings of the celebration of the XVIII General Chapter (Bukavu, July 1 – 23, 2023), which had as its theme: Loving our Xaverian vocation.

The documents elaborated and approved during the Chapter Assembly de- scribe the work done, both in preparation and during the Chapter, following the process proposed by the Preparatory Committee: Where We come from, Where We are and Where We are going.

Now is the time to look ahead. The Chapter documents are like a beacon on our journey. We invite every Xaverian to welcome them as a sign of love for our Fam- ily. If we think of God’s work and its fulfillment, we find two inseparable factors: the active presence of the divine Spirit and human collaboration. Well, it is thanks to these two elements that the audace progetto will reach 128 years of life on December 3, 2023. The desire that fills our hearts is to continue to collaborate actively, here and now, in the realization of the Xaverian charism (cf. C 1).

We are particularly grateful to our confreres from the Circumscription of D.R. of Congo who, together with the Xaverian Sisters, lay Xaverians and friends, helped make possible the celebration of the XVIII General Chapter. Thank you for the exquisite and fraternal welcome and attention! We felt at home, as members of the same Xaverian family.

Towards where are we going?  The Chapter has tried to answer this question by giving some indications about the path ahead that awaits us, well aware that only the Lord knows where we are going. Our trust is in Him and only in Him. It is this total trust in the Lord and in His Word that enables us to live each day with serenity, joy and hope (cf. 2 Tim 1:11–12). Let us walk the path together, as mem- bers of the same body, opening ourselves to one another, feeling the need for our confrere as an inseparable companion on the journey, giving the best of ourselves so that Jesus Christ may be known and loved by those who do not yet know Him or love Him.

Let us continue walking together, hand in hand, with one heart and one soul (Acts 4:32).
